Habib Umar bin Hafiz, born in Tarim, Yemen in 1963, is a renowned scholar, spiritual guide, and direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through Imam al-Husayn. He memorised the Qur’an at an early age and studied under the great scholars of Tarim before continuing his studies in al-Bayda’, North Yemen, with Habib Muhammad al-Haddar and Habib Zayn bin Ibrahim bin Sumayt, as well as benefitting from leading teachers in the Hijaz. In 1994, he founded Dar al-Mustafa in Tarim, an international centre of Islamic learning dedicated to knowledge, purification of the soul, and da‘wah. Today, students from across the globe study there, and many, such as Habib Ali al-Jifri and Shaykh Umar Husayn al-Khatib, are spreading the da‘wah of Islam worldwide. Habib Umar has authored numerous works, including al-Dhakirah al-Musharrafah and Khulasat al-Madad al-Nabawi, and his mawlid compositions are widely recited. Through his teaching, writings, travels, and initiatives like the al-Ra’fah Foundation, he continues to revive the Prophetic tradition and call people to Allah with mercy, wisdom, and sincerity.
