خُذْ مَا صَفَا وَدَعِ الْكَدَر
Take What Is Pure, and Leave What Is Clouded

يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ الـْمُصْطَفَى
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā
ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
O our Lord, O our Lord,
grant us aid through the closeness of the Chosen One
وَ ارْحَمْ إِلَهِي ضَعْفَنَا
بِٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ خَيْرِ ٱلْبَشَرْ
war ḥam ilahī ḍaʿfanā
bil muṣṭafāā khayril bashar
And have mercy, O Allah, upon our weakness,
through the Chosen One, the best of mankind
خُذْ مَا صَفَا وَدَعِ الْكَدَرْ
وَكِلِ الْأُمُورَ إلى الْقَدَرْ
khudh mā ṣafā wadaʿil kadar
wakilil umūra alal qadar
Take what is pure and leave what is turbid
and entrust all affairs to Divine Decree
مَهْمَا غُلِبْتَ كَمَا أَمَرْ
هَادِي الْوَرَى خَيْرُ الْبَشَرْ
mahmā ghulibta kamā amar
hādīl warā khayrul bashar
Whenever you are overcome, act as he commanded
the Guide of creation, the Best of mankind
إِنَّ الْأُمُورَ جَرَى بِهَا
قَلَمٌ عَلَى الْلَّوْحِ الْأَغَرْ
innal umūra jarā bihā
qalamun ʿalal llawḥil aghar
Indeed, all matters have been determined,
by a pen upon the radiant Tablet
فِي سَابِقِ الْعِلْمِ الْقَدِيمْ
مِنْ قَبْلِ إِيجَادِ الْصُّوَرْ
fī sābiqil ʿilmil qadīm
min qabli ījādil ṣṣuwar
In the pre-eternal knowledge,
long before the creation of forms
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ الـْمُصْطَفَى
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā
ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
O our Lord, O our Lord,
grant us aid through the closeness of the Chosen One
وَ ارْحَمْ إِلَهِي ضَعْفَنَا
بِٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ خَيْرِ ٱلْبَشَرْ
war ḥam ilahī ḍaʿfanā
bil muṣṭafāā khayril bashar
And have mercy, O Allah, upon our weakness,
through the Chosen One, the best of mankind
وَدَعِ الْهُمُومَ فَإِنَّهَا
يَا صَاحِبِي مَحْضُ الْضَّرَرْ
wadaʿil humūma fa innahā
yā ṣāḥibī maḥḍul ḍḍarar
Cast aside your worries, for they are,
O my friend, nothing but pure harm
وَاغْنَمْ زَمَانَكَ وَاسْتَرِحْ
مِنْ لَوْ وَلِمْ تَلْقَ الْظَّفَرْ
wagh nam zamānaka was tariḥ
min law walim talqal ẓẓafar
Seize your time and find your rest,
From "if" and "why," and you shall find success
وَارْجِعْ إِلَى اللَّهِ إِذَا
مَالَحَّ خَطْبٌ أَوْ عَصَرْ
war jiʿ ila Allahi idhā
mālaḥḥa khaṭbun aw ʿaṣar
And return to Allah whenever,
a hardship presses or constricts you
وَإِذَا بُلِيتَ بِمِحْنَةٍ
فَاصْبِرْ لَهَا فِيمَنْ صَبَرْ
wa idhā bulīta bimiḥnatin
faṣ bir lahā fīman ṣabar
And if you are tested with an affliction,
then bear it with patience, among those who are patient
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ الـْمُصْطَفَى
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā
ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
O our Lord, O our Lord,
grant us aid through the closeness of the Chosen One
وَ ارْحَمْ إِلَهِي ضَعْفَنَا
بِٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ خَيْرِ ٱلْبَشَرْ
war ḥam ilahī ḍaʿfanā
bil muṣṭafāā khayril bashar
And have mercy, O Allah, upon our weakness,
through the Chosen One, the best of mankind
مِنْ كُلِّ بَرٍّ مُوقِنٍ
مُتَوَقِّرٍ عِنْدَ الْغِيَرْ
min kulli barrin mūqinin
mutawaqqirin ʿindal ghiyar
Be among every certain, righteous soul,
Who remains dignified during changes of fate
وَإِذَا خُصِصْتَ بِنِعْمَةٍ
فَاشْكُرْ مَعَ مَنْ قَدْ شَكَرْ
wa idhā khuṣiṣta biniʿmatin
fash kur maʿa man qad shakar
And if you are favored with a blessing,
then give thanks, along with those who have given thanks
لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينْ
تُعْطَ الْمَزِيدَ كَمَا ذَكَرْ
lillāhi rabbil ʿālamīn
tuʿṭal mazīda kamā dhakar
To Allah, the Lord of the Worlds,
And you shall be granted increase, just as He mentioned
وَاعْمَلْ لِنَفْسِكَ صَالِحًا
تَنْجُو بِهِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَرْ
waʿ mal linafsika ṣāliḥan
tanjū bihi min kulli shar
And do righteous deeds for yourself,
that you may be saved from every evil.
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ الـْمُصْطَفَى
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā
ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
O our Lord, O our Lord,
grant us aid through the closeness of the Chosen One
وَ ارْحَمْ إِلَهِي ضَعْفَنَا
بِٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ خَيْرِ ٱلْبَشَرْ
war ḥam ilahī ḍaʿfanā
bil muṣṭafāā khayril bashar
And have mercy, O Allah, upon our weakness,
through the Chosen One, the best of mankind
وَتَفُوزُ بِالْحُسْنَى وَبِالْــــ
ــــجَنَّاتِ دَارِ الْمُسْتَقَرْ
watafūzu bil ḥusnā wabil
jannāti dāril mustaqar
And you shall triumph with the ultimate good and with,
The Gardens, the Abode of Permanence
دَارِ الْبَقَا دَارِ الْنَّعِيمْ
دَارِ الْكَرَامَةِ وَالْنَّظَرْ
dāril baqā dāril nnaʿīm
dāril karāmati wal nnaẓar
The Abode of Eternity, the Abode of Bliss,
The Abode of Honor and the Vision
وَأَعِدَّ زَادَكَ لِلْمَعَادْ
مِنْ قَبْلِ يَفْجَاكَ الْحَذَرْ
wa aʿidda zādaka lilmaʿād
min qabli yafjākal ḥadhar
Prepare your provisions for the Return,
Before the inevitable takes you by surprise
فَالْمَوْتُ آتٍ عَنْ قَرِيبْ
وَلَعَلَّ يَوْمَكَ قَدْ حَضَرْ
fal mawtu ātin ʿan qarīb
walaʿalla yawmaka qad ḥaḍar
For death is coming soon,
And perhaps your appointed day has already arrived
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ الـْمُصْطَفَى
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā
ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
O our Lord, O our Lord,
grant us aid through the closeness of the Chosen One
وَ ارْحَمْ إِلَهِي ضَعْفَنَا
بِٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ خَيْرِ ٱلْبَشَرْ
war ḥam ilahī ḍaʿfanā
bil muṣṭafāā khayril bashar
And have mercy, O Allah, upon our weakness,
through the Chosen One, the best of mankind
يَا رَبُّ أَنْتَ الْمُبْتَغَى
وَالْمُرْتَجَى وَالْمُدَّخَرْ
yā rabbu antal mubtaghā
wal murtajā wal muddakhar
O Lord, You are the One sought,
the One hoped for, and the One treasured
يَا رَبَّنَا فَاسْتُرْ وَسَا
مِحْ أَنْتَ أَكْرَمُ مَنْ سَتَرْ
yā rabbanā fas tur wasā
miḥ anta akramu man satar
O our Lord, conceal our faults and forgive,
for You are the most generous of those who conceal
يَا رَبَّنَا وَانْظُرْ إِلَيـْــــ
ـــنَا أَنْتَ أَحْسَنُ مَنْ نَظَرْ
yā rabbanā wan ẓur ilay
nā anta aḥsanu man naẓar
O our Lord, gaze upon us with mercy,
For You are the Best of those who gaze
يَا رَبَّنَا وَاخْتِمْ لَنَا
بِالْخَيْرِ إِنْ حَانَ الْسَّفَرْ
yā rabbanā wakh tim lanā
bil khayri in ḥānal ssafar
O our Lord, grant us a beautiful ending,
when the time for our final journey arrives
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ الـْمُصْطَفَى
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā
ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
O our Lord, O our Lord,
grant us aid through the closeness of the Chosen One
وَ ارْحَمْ إِلَهِي ضَعْفَنَا
بِٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ خَيْرِ ٱلْبَشَرْ
war ḥam ilahī ḍaʿfanā
bil muṣṭafāā khayril bashar
And have mercy, O Allah, upon our weakness,
through the Chosen One, the best of mankind
ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى الرَّسُولْ
خَيْرِ الْبَرِيَّةِ مِنْ مُضَرْ
thummaṣ ṣalātu ʿalar rasūl
khayril bariyyati min muḍar
Then prayers be upon the Messenger,
the best of creation from the tribe of Mudar
خَتْمِ الْنَّبِيِّينَ الْكِرَامْ
نِعْمَ الْمَصَابِيحُ الْغُرَرْ
khatmil nnabiyyīnal kirām
niʿmal maṣābīḥul ghurar
The Seal of the noble Prophets,
the finest of radiant lamps
وَآلِهِ وَاصْحَابِهِ
وَالتَّابِعِينَ عَلَى الْأَثَرْ
wa ālihi waṣ ḥābihi
wat tābiʿīna ʿalal athar
And upon his family and his companions,
and the followers who tread in their footsteps,
مَا هَبَّتِ الـــنَّسَمَاتُ بِالْــــ
ــــعَرْفِ الْمُعَنْبَرِ في الْسَّحَرْ
mā habbatin nasamātu bil
ʿarfil muʿanbari fīl ssaḥar
As long as the breezes blow
with the fragrance of ambergris at dawn;
يَا رَبَّنَا يَا رَبَّنَا
غِثْنَا بِقُرْبِ الـْمُصْطَفَى
yā rabbanā yā rabbanā
ghithnā biqurbil muṣṭafā
O our Lord, O our Lord,
grant us aid through the closeness of the Chosen One
وَ ارْحَمْ إِلَهِي ضَعْفَنَا
بِٱلْمُصْطَفَىٰ خَيْرِ ٱلْبَشَرْ
war ḥam ilahī ḍaʿfanā
bil muṣṭafāā khayril bashar
And have mercy, O Allah, upon our weakness,
through the Chosen One, the best of mankind
أَوْ غَرَّدَتْ وُرْقُ الْحِمَى
فَوْقَ الْغُصُونِ مِنَ الْشَّجَرْ
aw gharradat wurqul ḥimā
fawqal ghuṣūni minal shshajar
Or as long as the pigeons of the sanctuary coo,
upon the branches of the trees
