بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
By “The Revival of the Religious Sciences,” our Hearts are Revived

بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
وَيُكَشَّفُ عَنَّا غَمُّنَا وَكُرُوبُنَا
bi iḥyā’i ʿulūmid dīni taḥyā qulūbunā
wayukashshafu ʿannā ghammunā wakurūbunā
Through the Iḥyāʾ ʿulūm al-dīn, our hearts come to life
And our grief and distress are lifted from us
كِتَابٌ حَوَى الْعِلْمَ الَّذِي هُوَ نَافِعٌ
مُؤَلِّفُهُ أُسْتَاذُنَا وَطَبِيبُنَا
kitābun ḥawal ʿilmal ladhī huwa nāfiʿun
muallifuhu ustādhunā waṭabībunā
A book that contains knowledge of true benefit
Its author is our teacher and our [spiritual] physician
بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
وَيُكَشَّفُ عَنَّا غَمُّنَا وَكُرُوبُنَا
bi iḥyā’i ʿulūmid dīni taḥyā qulūbunā
wayukashshafu ʿannā ghammunā wakurūbunā
Through the Iḥyāʾ ʿulūm al-dīn, our hearts come to life
And our grief and distress are lifted from us
كِتَابٌ حَوَى عِلْمَ الْكِتَاب وَسُنَّة
وَمَا قَالَه أَوَّاهُنَا وَمُنِيبُنَا
kitābun ḥawā ʿilmal kitāb wasunnah
wamā qālah awwāhunā wamunībunā
A book encompassing the knowledge of the Book and Sunnah
And what our deeply devout and often-repentant ones said
بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
وَيُكَشَّفُ عَنَّا غَمُّنَا وَكُرُوبُنَا
bi iḥyā’i ʿulūmid dīni taḥyā qulūbunā
wayukashshafu ʿannā ghammunā wakurūbunā
Through the Iḥyāʾ ʿulūm al-dīn, our hearts come to life
And our grief and distress are lifted from us
مَوَارِيثُ أَسْلَافِنَا لَنَا وَأَئِمَّة
مَضَوْا وَعَلَى آثَارِهِمْ مُسْتَجِيبُنَا
mawārīthu aslāfinā lanā wa a’immah
maḍaw waʿalā āthārihim mustajībunā
And the legacies of our pious predecessors and Imams
Who traveled [the path], and upon their example, we travel, answering their call
بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
وَيُكَشَّفُ عَنَّا غَمُّنَا وَكُرُوبُنَا
bi iḥyā’i ʿulūmid dīni taḥyā qulūbunā
wayukashshafu ʿannā ghammunā wakurūbunā
Through the Iḥyāʾ ʿulūm al-dīn, our hearts come to life
And our grief and distress are lifted from us
إِذَا نُشِرَتْ أَعْلَامُهُ وَعُلُومُهُ
وَأَبْصَرَهَا عَلَّامُنَا وَمُصِيبُنَا
idhā nushirat aʿlāmuhu waʿulūmuhu
wa abṣarahā ʿallāmunā wamuṣībunā
When the Ihya's writings and knowledge are spread forth,
And our scholars and righteous people behold them,
بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
وَيُكَشَّفُ عَنَّا غَمُّنَا وَكُرُوبُنَا
bi iḥyā’i ʿulūmid dīni taḥyā qulūbunā
wayukashshafu ʿannā ghammunā wakurūbunā
Through the Iḥyāʾ ʿulūm al-dīn, our hearts come to life
And our grief and distress are lifted from us
تَحَقَّقَ أَنَّ الْعِلْمَ فِيه بِأَسْرِه
وَلَمْ يَسْتَرِبْ فِي مِثْل هَذَا أَرِيبُنَا
taḥaqqaqa annal ʿilma fīh bi asrih
walam yastarib fī mithl hadhā arībunā
It becomes realized that knowledge comprehensively is within it,
And our people of knowledge never doubted it
بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
وَيُكَشَّفُ عَنَّا غَمُّنَا وَكُرُوبُنَا
bi iḥyā’i ʿulūmid dīni taḥyā qulūbunā
wayukashshafu ʿannā ghammunā wakurūbunā
Through the Iḥyāʾ ʿulūm al-dīn, our hearts come to life
And our grief and distress are lifted from us
وَقَدْ أَطْنَبَ الشَّيْخُ الْإِمَام بِوَصْفِه
أَبُو الْمَكْرُمَاتِ الْعَيْدَرُوسُ حَبِيبُنَا
waqad aṭnabash shaykhul imām biwaṣfih
abūl makrumātil ʿaydarūsu ḥabībunā
And the Shaykh, the Imam, spoke in great detail of its traits
Abu al-Makrumat, Al-Aydarus, our Beloved
بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
وَيُكَشَّفُ عَنَّا غَمُّنَا وَكُرُوبُنَا
bi iḥyā’i ʿulūmid dīni taḥyā qulūbunā
wayukashshafu ʿannā ghammunā wakurūbunā
Through the Iḥyāʾ ʿulūm al-dīn, our hearts come to life
And our grief and distress are lifted from us
وَكَمْ غَيْرِهِ مِنْ عَارِفٍ وَمُحَقِّقٍ
وَحَبْرٍ عَلِيمٍ وَالْإِلَـٰهُ حَسِيبُنَا
wakam ghayrihi min ʿārifin wamuḥaqqiqin
waḥabrin ʿalīmin wal ilāhu ḥasībunā
And many more did as well, from gnostics to the scholars of verification
And the learned, but Allah is our Sufficiency
بِـإِحْيَاءِ عُلُومِ الدِّينِ تَحْيَا قُلُوبُنَا
وَيُكَشَّفُ عَنَّا غَمُّنَا وَكُرُوبُنَا
bi iḥyā’i ʿulūmid dīni taḥyā qulūbunā
wayukashshafu ʿannā ghammunā wakurūbunā
Through the Iḥyāʾ ʿulūm al-dīn, our hearts come to life
And our grief and distress are lifted from us
وَتَمَّتْ وَصَلَّى اللهُ فِي كُلِّ سَاعَة
عَلَى الْمُصْطَفَى الْهَادِي شَفِيع ذُنُوبِنَا
watammat waṣalla Allahu fī kulli sāʿah
ʿalal muṣṭafal hādī shafīʿ dhunūbinā
To end, may Allah send His blessings every moment
On Mustafa, the Guide, and Intercessor for our sins
