خَبِّرِي يَا نُسِيْمَةْ عَنْ مُغْرَم
O Gentle Breeze, Tell of a Lover Smitten

خَبِّرِي يَا نُسِيْمَةْ عَنْ مُغْرَمْ
شَجِي وَلْهَانْ عَاشِقِ الْأَنْوَارْ
khabbirī yā nusiymah ʿan mughram
shajī walhān ʿāshiqil anwar
O gentle breeze, tell of a lover smitten,
Grieved and distraught, an adorer of his radiance
أَنْتِ عَنِّي اشْتَكِي لُهْ عَنْ حَالِي
طُولَ اللَّيَالِي سَهْرَانْ كَيْ أَرَى الْمُخْتَارْ
anti ʿannīsh takī luh ʿan ḥālī
ṭūlal layālī sahrān kay aral mukhtār
On my behalf, complain to him of my state,
Awake through the nights, longing to see the Chosen One
مَنْ يَلُمْنِي فِي غَرَامِي طَالَمَا عَاشِقْ جَمَالَكْ
كُنْ شَفِيعِي يَا تِهَامِي جُدْ تَعَطَّفْ بِنَوَالَكْ
man yalumnī fī gharāmī ṭālamā ʿāshiq jamālak
kun shafīʿī yā tihāmī jud taʿaṭṭaf binawālak
Let none blame my passion as I adore your beauty,
Be my intercessor, O Tihami, and grant your kindness and bounty
يَا مُحَمَّدْ يَا مُمَجَّدْ يَا مُؤَيَّدْ بِالْشَّفَاعَةْ
هَا أَنَا عِنْدَ بَابِك أَرْتَجِي الْأَنْظَارْ
yā muḥammad yā mumajjad yā muayyad bil shshafāʿah
hā anā ʿinda bābik artajīl anẓār
Oh Muhammad, oh glorified, oh supported with intercession,
Here I stand at your door, hoping for a single glance
