أَتْبَاعُكَ الـجَاهَ الـمُبَجَّلَ قَدْ حَوَوْا
atbāʿukal jāhal mubajjala qad ḥawaw
Your followers have attained the venerable prestige
وَعَلَى نِـهَايَاتِ الفَخَارِ قَدِ احْتَوَوْا
waʿalā nihāyātil fakhāri qadiḥ tawaw
And the heights of glory they have encompassed
بِعُلَاكِ أَشْخَاصُ الكَمَـالِ قَدِ اسْتَوَوْا
biʿulāki ashkhāṣul kamāli qadis tawaw
By your eminence, the paragons of perfection have ascended
هَذِي الرُّوَاةُ تُذِيعُ مَدْحَكَ إِذْ رَوَوْا
يَا مَنْ إِلَيْهِ الفَضْلُ أَجْمَعُ قَدْ رَوَوْا
hadhīr ruwātu tudhīʿu madḥaka idh rawaw
yā man ilayhil faḍlu ajmaʿu qad rawaw
These narrators broadcast your praise when they relate
O you to whom all bounty is traced by those who relate
نَسَبُوا البَهَا لِبَدِيعِ حُسْنٍ مُفْرَدٍ
nasabūl bahā libadīʿi ḥusnin mufradin
They attributed splendor to a unique and wondrous beauty
مِنْ بَدْرِ وَجْهٍ بِالـحَيَاءِ مُوَرَّدٍ
min badri wajhin bil ḥayā’i muwarradin
From a moon-like face, with modesty suffused with rose
عُشَّاقُهُ الأَسْرَى لَهُ بِتَوَدُّدٍ
ʿushshāquhul asrā lahu bitawaddudin
His lovers are his captives through their deep affection
هَامُوا وَقَدْ سَمِعُوا مَدِيحَ مُحَمَّدٍ
أَحْقَابَـهُمْ فَتَجَرَّعُوا حَتَّى رَوَوْا
hāmū waqad samiʿū madīḥa muḥammadin
aḥqābahum fatajarraʿū ḥattā rawaw
They wandered lost upon hearing the praise of Muhammad
Throughout their ages, drinking deep until their thirst was slaked
ذِكْرَاهُ قُوتُ قُلُوبِـهِمِ وَهْوَ الرُّوَى
dhikrāhu qūtu qulūbihimi wahwar ruwā
His remembrance is the sustenance of their hearts and their water
لَـهُمُ وَهُمْ أَحْبَابُهُ وَعَنِ السِّوَى
lahumu wahum aḥbābuhu waʿanis siwā
For them—and they are his beloveds—and from all others
مَوْتَى وَحِينَ دَعَاهُمُ دَاعِي الـجَوَى
mawtā waḥīna daʿāhumu dāʿīl jawā
Dead—but when the herald of passion summoned them
هُمْ قَدْ نَوَوْا حُسْنَ الوَفَاءِ عَلَى الـهَوَى
فِي حُبِّهِ وَلَـهُمْ جَمِيعاً مَا نَوَوْا
hum qad nawaw ḥusnal wafā’i ʿalal hawā
fī ḥubbihi walahum jamīʿan mā nawaw
They intended beautiful loyalty despite their desire
In his love, and for all of them is that which they intended
هَجَرُوا لَهُ أَوْلَادُهُمْ وَذُرَاهُمُ
hajarū lahu awlāduhum wadhurāhumu
For his sake they abandoned their children and their lofty homes
وَسَرَوْا وَقَدْ حَمَدُوا بِهِ مَسْرَاهُمُ
wasaraw waqad ḥamadū bihi masrāhumu
They traveled by night and praised through him their night-journey
وَطَعَامُهُمْ وَشَرَابُهُمْ ذِكْرَاهُمُ
waṭaʿāmuhum washarābuhum dhikrāhumu
Their food and their drink was their remembrance
هَامُوا بِحُبِّ مُحَمَّدٍ فَتَرَاهُمُ
فَوْقَ القَلَائِصِ كَالقِسِيِّ قَدِ انْطَوَوْا
hāmū biḥubbi muḥammadin fatarāhumu
fawqal qalā’iṣi kal qisiyyi qadin ṭawaw
They were maddened by the love of Muhammad, so you see them
Upon the lean camels, bent like bows
قَدْ جَاءَ طَهَ بِالرِّسَالَةِ مُعْلِناً
qad jā’a ṭaha bir risālati muʿlinan
Taha has come, announcing the Message
وَهَدَى وَأَرْشَدَ مُبْهَمـاً وَمُبَيَّناً
wahadā wa arshada mubhaman wamubayyanan
Guiding and directing toward both the obscure and the manifest
وَالكَوْنُ طَوْعَ يَدَيْهِ أَصْبَحَ مُذْعِناً
wal kawnu ṭawʿa yadayhi aṣbaḥa mudhʿinan
The universe has become submissive, obedient to his hands
هُوَ خَيْرُ خَلقِ اللهِ فَاعْلَمْ مُوقِناً
إنَّ الـخَلائِقَ فِي الـمَنَازِلِ مَا ثَوَوْا
huwa khayru khalqillāhi faʿ lam mūqinan
ānnal khalā’iqa fīl manāzili mā thawaw
He is the best of God's creation, so know with certainty
That the creatures have not truly dwelled in their stations
وَافَى حَـمِيداً لِلإِلَـٰهِ وَحَامِداً
wāfā ḥamīdan lililāhi waḥāmidan
He arrived praiseworthy to the Lord and praising Him
وَأَتَى بَشِيراً لِلهُدَاةِ وَشَاهِداً
wa atā bashīran lilhudāti washāhidan
He came as a bearer of glad tidings for the guided, and a witness
وَنَذَيرَ مَنْ لِلحَقِّ أَمْسَى جَاحِداً
wanadhaīra man lilḥaqqi amsā jāḥidan
And a warner to those who became deniers of the Truth
هَشَّمَ الطَّوَاغِي جَاهِداً وَمُجَاهِداً
دِيناً بِصَارِمِ سَيْفِهِ حَتَّى تَوَوْا
hashshamaṭ ṭawāghī jāhidan wamujāhidan
dīnan biṣārimi sayfihi ḥattā tawaw
He crushed the tyrants, striving and struggling
For the faith with his sharp sword until they perished
قَوْمٌ إِلَى حُبِّ النَّبِيِّ سِيَاقُهُمْ
qawmun ilā ḥubbin nabiyyi siyāquhum
A people whose driving force is the love of the Prophet
وَإِلَى حِـمَـاهُ رَحِيلُهُمْ وَمَسَاقُهُمْ
wa ilā ḥimāhu raḥīluhum wamasāquhum
To his sanctuary is their journey and their course
لَطَفَتْ بِرَاحِ جَمَالِهِ أَذْوَاقُهُمْ
laṭafat birāḥi jamālihi adhwāquhum
Their tastes were refined by the wine of his beauty
هَاجَتْ لِزَوْرَةِ قَبْرِهِ أَشْوَاقُهُمْ
وَنَمَـا عَلَيْهِمْ وَجْدُهُمْ حَتَّى انْضَوَوْا
hājat lizawrati qabrihi ashwāquhum
wanamā ʿalayhim wajduhum ḥattān ḍawaw
Their longings were stirred to visit his tomb
And their ecstasy grew over them until they wasted away
سَارُوا بِتَقْوَاهُمْ عَلَى أَزْكَى شِيَمْ
sārū bitaqwāhum ʿalā azkā shiyam
They journeyed with their piety upon the purest of traits
خُصُّوا بِتَوْفِيقِ الإِلَـٰهِ مِنَ القِدَمْ
khuṣṣū bitawfīqil ilāhi minal qidam
Singled out by the enabling grace of God from eternity
زَهِدُوا بِمَـا يَفْنَى وَذَا عَيْنُ الكَرَمْ
zahidū bimā yafnā wadhā ʿaynul karam
They renounced what perishes, and this is the essence of nobility
هَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا وَكَمْ
عُرِضَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ كَالرَّقِيقِ فَمَـا لَوَوْا
hānat ʿalayhim hadhihid dunyā wakam
ʿuriḍat ʿalayhim kar raqīqi famā lawaw
This world became trivial to them, and how often
It was offered to them like a slave, yet they did not turn
بُشْرَاهُمُ بِمَقَامِهِمْ فَلَقَدْ كَمُل
bushrāhumu bimaqāmihim falaqad kamul
Glad tidings to them for their station, for it has been perfected
وَالصَّعْبُ عِنْدَ الأَكْثَرِينَ لَـهُمْ سَهُل
waṣ ṣaʿbu ʿindal aktharīna lahum sahul
What is difficult for most became easy for them
طُوبَى لِعَبْدٍ عَنْ هَوَاهُمْ لَـمْ يَـحُل
ṭūbā liʿabdin ʿan hawāhum lam yaḥul
Blessed is the servant who did not turn away from their love
هَذَا هُوَ الشَّرَفُ الرَّفِيعُ البَاذِخُ ال
عَالِي وَكَمْ شَرَفٍ بِذَلِكَ قَدْ حَوَوْا
hadhā huwash sharafur rafīʿul bādhikhul
ʿālī wakam sharafin bidhalika qad ḥawaw
This is the exalted, immense, and high
Honor, and how much honor have they attained through it
سَارُوا وَقَدْ رَجَعُوا بِأَهْنَا أَوْبَةٍ
sārū waqad rajaʿū bi ahnā awbatin
They set out and returned with the most blissful homecoming
وَحَوَوْا حُضُورَ قُلُوبِـهِمْ مِنْ غَيْبَةٍ
waḥawaw ḥuḍūra qulūbihim min ghaybatin
They attained the presence of their hearts after absence
كَسَتِ القُلُوبَ لَـهُمْ مَلَابِسُ هَيْبَةٍ
kasatil qulūba lahum malābisu haybatin
Garments of awe have clothed their hearts
هَامُوا إِلَى الوَرْدِ النَّمِيرِ بِطَيْبَةٍ
فَالعُذْرُ إِنْ هَوَتِ العَرَائِصُ أَوْ هَوَوْا
hāmū ilal wardin namīri biṭaybatin
fal ʿudhru in hawatil ʿarā’iṣu aw hawaw
They wandered lost toward the pure watering-place in Tayba
So grant excuse if the grounds collapse or they themselves fall
