مَدْحُ النَّبِيِّ لِوَامِقِيهِ لَذِيذُ
madḥun nabiyyi liwāmiqīhi ladhīdhu
Praise of the Prophet for his lovers is delectable
وَلَـهُمْ بِهِ إِنْ خُوِّفُوا تَعْوِيذُ
walahum bihi in khuwwifū taʿwīdhu
And for them, through him, is a refuge if they are made to fear
وَبِحُكْمِ دِينِ هُدَاهُ فَهْيَ تَلُوذُ
wabiḥukmi dīni hudāhu fahya talūdhu
And by the decree of his guiding religion, it seeks shelter
دِينُ النَّبِيِّ لِـحُكْمِهِ تَنْفِيذُ
وَبِهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ نَحْنُ نَعُوذُ
dīnun nabiyyi liḥukmihi tanfīdhu
wabihi minash shayṭāni naḥnu naʿūdhu
The Prophet’s religion is an execution of His decree
and through it from Satan we seek refuge
دِينٌ مَتِينٌ عَزَّ عَالِي قَدْرِهِ
dīnun matīnun ʿazza ʿālī qadrihi
A firm religion, its high station is mighty
دِينٌ مُبِينٌ سِرُّهُ فِي جَهْرِهِ
dīnun mubīnun sirruhu fī jahrihi
A manifest religion, its secret lies in its openness
دِينٌ مَصُونٌ لَا يُشَابُ بِغَيْرِهِ
dīnun maṣūnun lā yushābu bighayrihi
A protected religion, untainted by any other
دِينٌ قَرَأْنَا اللهُ حَافِظُ ذِكْرِهِ
إِنْ غَالَ دِيناً هَفْوَةٌ وَشُذُوذُ
dīnun qara’na Allahu ḥāfiẓu dhikrihi
in ghāla dīnan hafwatun washudhūdhu
A religion of which we read, "God is the guardian of its Remembrance"
should any slip or deviance assail a faith
دِينٌ قَوِيمٌ لِلشَّرَائِعِ مَنْشَأُ
dīnun qawīmun lilshsharā’iʿi mansha’u
A straight religion, the origin of divine laws
بِكِتَابِهِ إنَّ النَّبِيَّ مُنَبَّأُ
bikitābihi annan nabiyya munabba’u
With his Book, the Prophet was indeed informed
دِينٌ بِتَنْزِيلِ الكِتَابِ مُوَطَّأُ
dīnun bitanzīlil kitābi muwaṭṭa’u
A religion paved by the revelation of the Book
دِينُ النَّبِيِّ عَلَيْهِ فَهْوَ مُبَرَّأُ
مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ خَالِصٌ مَنْفُوذُ
dīnun nabiyyi ʿalayhi fahwa mubarra’u
min kulli sū’in khāliṣun manfūdhu
The Prophet's religion; for he is absolved
of every evil, pure and efficacious
آيَاتُهُ مَا كُرِّرَتْ بِتَرَدُّدٍ
āyātuhu mā kurrirat bitaraddudin
Its verses, however often they are repeated
تَزْدَادُ بَـهْجَتُهَا بِغَيْرِ تَرَدُّدٍ
tazdādu bahjatuhā bighayri taraddudin
Their splendor increases without hesitation
بِالـحِفْظِ لَا يَأْتِيهِ بَاطِلُ مُلحِدٍ
bil ḥifẓi lā ya’tīhi bāṭilu mulḥidin
Through preservation, no falsehood of an atheist can reach it
دَامَتْ حِرَاسَتُهُ بِطَلعَةِ أَحْمَدٍ
خَيْرِ الأَنَامِ وَمَا اعْتَرَاهُ فُذُوذُ
dāmat ḥirāsatuhu biṭalʿati aḥmadin
khayril anāmi wamaʿ tarāhu fudhūdhu
Its protection endures by the appearance of Ahmad
the best of mankind, whom no irregularity befell
حُقَّ الـهَنَاءُ لِكُلِّ شَادٍ مُنْشِدٍ
ḥuqqal hanā’u likulli shādin munshidin
Congratulation is due to every singer and chanter
فِي مَدْحِ هَادٍ كَمْ هَدَى مِنْ مُهْتدٍ
fī madḥi hādin kam hadā min muhtdin
In praise of a Guide who has guided many a seeker
فَمَدِيـحُهُ يَـحْلُو بِصِدْقِ تَوَدُّدٍ
famadīḥuhu yaḥlū biṣidqi tawaddudin
For his praise becomes sweet through sincere affection
دَعْنِي أُعَمِّرُ فِي مَدِيحِ مُحَمَّدٍ
عُمْرِي فَإنَّ الـمَدْحَ فِيهِ لَذِيذُ
daʿnī uʿammiru fī madīḥi muḥammadin
ʿumrī fa annal madḥa fīhi ladhīdhu
Let me spend in the praise of Muhammad
my life, for praise of him is delectable
مَدْحٌ بِهِ فَاقَ الـمَدَائِحَ وَسْمُهُ
madḥun bihi fāqal madā’iḥa wasmuhu
Praise whose mark has surpassed all other praises
وَعَلَى الدَّرَارِي كَيْفَ دُرَّ نَظْمُهُ
waʿalad darārī kayfa durra naẓmuhu
And upon the bright stars, how its pearls were scattered
وَمُـحِبُّهُ قَدْ قَالَ ذَلِكَ حُكْمُهُ
wamuḥibbuhu qad qāla dhalika ḥukmuhu
And his lover has said: "That is its judgment"
دُرٌّ يَمُرُّ عَلَى اللِّساَنِ وَطَعْمُهُ
حُلوُ الـمَذَاقِ كَأَنَّهُ فَالُوذُ
durrun yamurru ʿalal lisani waṭaʿmuhu
ḥulwul madhāqi ka annahu fālūdhu
Pearls passing over the tongue, and their taste
is sweet of flavor, as if it were a honeyed confection
قُل مَا تَشَاءُ بِمَدْحِ طَهَ أَحْـمَدٍ
qul mā tashā’u bimadḥi ṭaha aḥmadin
Say what you wish in praise of Taha Ahmad
نُورِ الوُجُودِ أَجَلِّ هَادٍ مُهْتَدٍ
nūril wujūdi ajalli hādin muhtadin
Light of existence, most majestic of guides and guided ones
إنِّي أقُولُ مُبَاهِياً بِتَوَدُّدٍ
ānnī aqūlu mubāhīan bitawaddudin
Indeed, I say, boasting with affection
دَوَّنْتُ مَدْحِي فِي النَّبِيِّ مُحَمَّدٍ
حُبًّا وَمَدْحِي غَيْرَهُ مَنْبُوذُ
dawwantu madḥī fīn nabiyyi muḥammadin
ḥubban wamadḥī ghayrahu manbūdhu
I have recorded my praise of the Prophet Muhammad
out of love, while my praise of any other is cast aside
إِعْرَابُ لَـحْنِي فِـي هَوَاهُ أَفَادَنِي
iʿrābu laḥnī fī hawāhu afādanī
The expression of my melody in his love has benefited me
فَضْلاً كَبِيراً حُزْتُ مِنْهُ مَأْمَنِي
faḍlan kabīran ḥuztu minhu ma’manī
With great bounty, through which I attained my safety
وَصَدَحْتُ أَنْشُدُ ظَاهِراً عَنْ بَاطِنِي
waṣadaḥtu anshudu ẓāhiran ʿan bāṭinī
And I sang out, chanting my inward through my outward
دَقَّقْتُ مَعْنَى مِدْحَتِي فَأَعَانَنِي
فِـي النَّظْمِ ذِهْنٌ مُرْهَفٌ مَشْحُوذُ
daqqaqtu maʿnā midḥatī fa aʿānanī
fīn naẓmi dhihnun murhafun mashḥūdhu
I refined the meaning of my panegyric, and there aided me
in the composition a sharp and whetted mind
إنَّ النَّبِيَّ مَدِيـحُهُ يَـجْلُو الصَّدَا
ānnan nabiyya madīḥuhu yajlūṣ ṣadā
Indeed, the Prophet—his praise polishes away the rust
نَالَ السَّعَادَةَ مُرْتَـجِيهِ وَالـهُدَى
nālas saʿādata murtajīhi wal hudā
He who hopes for him has attained bliss and guidance
لَا زَالَ مَادِحُهُ بِمَدْحٍ ذَا نَدَى
lā zāla mādiḥuhu bimadḥin dhā nadā
His panegyrist remains, through praise, a man of generosity
دَامَتْ يَدَاهُ تَسِحُّ جُوداً فَالنَّدَى
مِنْ كَفِّ أَحْمَدَ هَاطِلٌ مَأْخُوذُ
dāmat yadāhu tasiḥḥu jūdan fan nadā
min kaffi aḥmada hāṭilun ma’khūdhu
May his hands continue to pour out bounty, for the dew
is taken from the pouring hand of Ahmad
طَـهَ عَـلَى سِرِّ الإِلَـٰهِ أَمِينُهُ
ṭaha ʿalā sirril ilāhi amīnuhu
Taha is the trustee of the Divine Secret
هَادٍ هَدَاهُ رَشِيدُهُ مَأْمُونُهُ
hādin hadāhu rashīduhu ma’mūnuhu
A guide, his guidance is righteous and trustworthy
وَبَيانُ أَمْدَاحِ الوَرَى تَبْيِينُهُ
wabaīānu amdāḥil warā tabyīnuhu
And the clarification of mankind's praises is his elucidation
دِينِي مِنَ الدُّنْيَا وَحَسْبُكَ دِينُهُ
وَبِهِ لَدَى الأُخْرَى الـجُمُوعُ تَلُوذُ
dīnī minad dunyā waḥasbuka dīnuhu
wabihi ladal ukhral jumūʿu talūdhu
My religion in this world—and his religion suffices you—
is that through which, in the Hereafter, the throngs seek refuge
