Fazzaziyya

(ف) حرف الفاء

يَا مَنْ تَسَامَى مَـجْدُهُ الـمَوْصُوفُ
yā man tasāmā majduhul mawṣūfu
O you whose described glory has transcended
أَنْتَ الشَّرِيفُ وَغَيْرُكَ الـمَشْرُوفُ
antash sharīfu waghayrukal mashrūfu
You are the noble one, and all others are ennobled
ونَدَى يَدَيْكَ البِرُّ وَالـمَعْرُوفُ
wnadā yadaykal birru wal maʿrūfu
The dew of your hands is righteousness and kindness
غَيْثُ العَطَا مِنْ رَاحَتَيْكَ ذَرُوفُ
وَلَنَا بِجُودِكَ تَالِدٌ وَطَرِيفُ
ghaythul ʿaṭā min rāḥatayka dharūfu
walanā bijūdika tālidun waṭarīfu
The rain of bounty from your palms is pouring
And through your generosity we have wealth old and new
جَاهُ النَّبِيِّ لِكُلِّ فَضْلٍ مَطْلَعُ
jāhun nabiyyi likulli faḍlin maṭlaʿu
The Prophet’s prestige is the dawning-place of every virtue
وَحِـمَـاهُ لِلجَانِي الـمُقَصِّرِ مَفْزَعُ
waḥimāhu liljānīl muqaṣṣiri mafzaʿu
And his sanctuary is a refuge for the failing sinner
وَثَنَاؤُهُ العَذْبُ الرَّوِي لِي مَشْرَعُ
wathanāuhul ʿadhbur rawī lī mashraʿu
And his sweet, thirst-quenching praise is my watering-way
غَيْرِي بِمِدْحَةِ غَيْرِ أَحْمَدَ مُولَعُ
لَكِنَّنِي بِمَدِيـحِهِ الـمَشْغُوفُ
ghayrī bimidḥati ghayri aḥmada mūlaʿu
lakinnanī bimadīḥihil mashghūfu
Others are enamored with praising other than Ahmad
But I am passionately infatuated with his eulogy
مَا لِابْتِدَاءِ عُلَاكَ أَحْمَدُ مُنْتَهَى
mā liābtidā’i ʿulāka aḥmadu muntahā
There is no end to the beginning of your loftiness, O Ahmad
كَلَّا وَلَا لِنَدَاكَ وَالـمَجْدِ انْتِهَا
kallā walā linadāka wal majdin tihā
Nay, nor is there a conclusion to your bounty and glory
أَنْتَ الَّذِي كُلُّ الـمَدَائِحِ زِنْتَهَا
antal ladhī kullul madā’iḥi zintahā
You are the one by whom all praises are adorned
غُرَرَ القَوَافِي صُغْتُ نَظْمـاً فَانْتَهَى
لِـمـَسَامِعِ العُشَّاقِ مِنْهُ شُنُوفُ
ghuraral qawāfī ṣughtu naẓman fan tahā
limasāmiʿil ʿushshāqi minhu shunūfu
I have fashioned the choicest rhymes into verse, which reached
The ears of lovers as dangling ornaments
رَفَعَ الإِلَهُ بِمَجْدِ أَحْمَدَ طَابَةً
rafaʿal ilahu bimajdi aḥmada ṭābatan
God raised the status of Tayba through Ahmad’s glory
وَبِهِ غَدَا البَيْتُ الحَرَامُ مَثَابَةً
wabihi ghadal baytul ḥarāmu mathābatan
And through him, the Sacred House became a place of return
حُبِّي لَهُ عَنِّي يُمِيطُ كَآبَةً
ḥubbī lahu ʿannī yumīṭu ka ābatan
My love for him dispels sorrow from me
غَفِيَ الـخَلِيُّ وَمَا غَفَوْتُ صَبَابَةً
فَلِأَجْلِ هَذَا الطَّيْفِ لَيْسَ يَطُوفُ
ghafiyal khaliyyu wamā ghafawtu ṣabābatan
faliajli hadhaṭ ṭayfi laysa yaṭūfu
The carefree one slept, but I slept not from yearning
So for this reason the phantom visitor does not circle
خَيْرُ البَرِيَّةِ غَوْثُنَا وَشَفِيعُنَا
khayrul bariyyati ghawthunā washafīʿunā
The Best of Creation is our succor and our intercessor
إِنْ نَدْعُهُ فِي الكَرْبِ فَهْوَ سَمِيعُنَا
in nadʿuhu fīl karbi fahwa samīʿunā
If we call upon him in distress, he is our listener
بِنَدَاهُ مَا مَـحْلُ الزَّمَانِ يَرُوعُنَا
binadāhu mā maḥluz zamāni yarūʿunā
By his bounty, the drought of time does not terrify us
غَزُرَتْ مَوَاهِبُ أَحْمَدٍ فَجَمِيعُنَا
نَسْعَى لِكَعْبَةِ جُودِهِ وَنَطُوفُ
ghazurat mawāhibu aḥmadin fajamīʿunā
nasʿā likaʿbati jūdihi wanaṭūfu
Ahmad's gifts are abundant, so all of us
Strive toward the Kaaba of his bounty and circumambulate
مَنْ ذَا لَهُ جَاهٌ عَظِيمٌ وَاسِعٌ
man dhā lahu jāhun ʿaẓīmun wāsiʿun
Who possesses a prestige so great and vast
كَمُحَمَّدٍ أَوْ مِنْ حِمَاهُ مَانِعٌ
kamuḥammadin aw min ḥimāhu māniʿun
Like Muhammad, or a protector from his sanctuary?
وَلِكُلِّ هَوْلٍ مَنْ سِوَاهُ دَافِعٌ
walikulli hawlin man siwāhu dāfiʿun
And for every horror, who besides him is a repeller?
غَدِقُ البَنَانِ لِكُلِّ فَضْلٍ جَامِعٌ
قَلبِي عَلَيْهِ مُـحَبَّسٌ مَوْقُوفُ
ghadiqul banāni likulli faḍlin jāmiʿun
qalbī ʿalayhi muḥabbasun mawqūfu
His fingers are overflowing, gathering every virtue
My heart is devoted and consecrated to him
أَبْدَى الوُجُودَ الـمَحْضَ عَيْنُ ظُهُورِهِ
abdal wujūdal maḥḍa ʿaynu ẓuhūrihi
Pure existence was revealed by the essence of his manifestation
وَبِهِ عَنِ التَّحْقِيقِ كَشْفُ سُتُورِهِ
wabihi ʿanit taḥqīqi kashfu sutūrihi
And through him, the veils of realization were uncovered
هُوَ ذَاتُ شَخْصِ الكَوْنِ عَيْنُ ضَمِيرِهِ
huwa dhātu shakhṣil kawni ʿaynu ḍamīrihi
He is the essence of the cosmos, the very eye of its heart
غَشِيَتْ لَوَاحظَنَا أَشِعَّةُ نُورِهِ
فَالطَّرْفُ عَنْ إِدْرَاكِهِ مَطْرُوفُ
ghashiyat lawaḥẓanā ashiʿʿatu nūrihi
faṭ ṭarfu ʿan idrākihi maṭrūfu
The rays of his light have overwhelmed our gazes
So the eye is averted from perceiving him
آيَاتُهُ مَنْشُورَةٌ رَايَاتُـهَا
āyātuhu manshūratun rāyātuhā
His signs have their banners unfurled
وَحُرُوبُهُ قَدْ أَضْرَمَتْ جَمَرَاتُـهَا
waḥurūbuhu qad aḍramat jamarātuhā
And his battles have kindled their embers
فَعِدَاهُ مَيِّتَةٌ غَدَتْ ثَارَاتُـهَا
faʿidāhu mayyitatun ghadat thārātuhā
So his enemies are dead and their vengeances gone
غَزَوَاتُهُ مَبْسُوطَةٌ غَارَاتُهَا
أبَداً وَكَفُّ عَدُوِّهِ مَكْفُوفُ
ghazawātuhu mabsūṭatun ghārātuhā
ābadan wakaffu ʿaduwwihi makfūfu
His expeditions have their raids extended
Forever, while the hand of his enemy is restrained
كَمْ أَطْلَقَتْ يُمْنَاهُ كَفَّ مُقَيَّدٍ
kam aṭlaqat yumnāhu kaffa muqayyadin
How often has his right hand released the hand of the shackled
وَلَكَمْ أَفَادَتْ مِنْ يَدَاهُ لِـمُحْتَدٍ
walakam afādat min yadāhu limuḥtadin
And how much have his hands benefited the noble-born
وَبِهِ اسْتَبَانَ الرُّشْدَ كُلُّ مُوَحِّدٍ
wabihis tabānar rushda kullu muwaḥḥidin
And through him, every monotheist discerned the right path
غَيْمُ الضَّلَالَةِ مُنْجَلٍ بِمُحَمَّدٍ
فَالـحَقُّ أَبْلَجُ وَاضِحٌ مَكْشُوفُ
ghaymuḍ ḍalālati munjalin bimuḥammadin
fal ḥaqqu ablaju wāḍiḥun makshūfu
The cloud of misguidance is dispelled by Muhammad
So the truth is bright, clear, and revealed
صَلَّى عَلَيْهِ اللهُ رَبِّي مُعْلِناً
ṣallā ʿalayhillāhu rabbī muʿlinan
May God my Lord bless him publicly
فَهْوَ الَّذِي نِلنَا بِهِ كُلَّ الـمُنَا
fahwal ladhī nilnā bihi kullal munā
For he is the one through whom we attained all aspirations
نَرْجُو زِيَارَتَهُ لِنَظْفَرَ بِالـهَنَا
narjū ziyāratahu linaẓfara bil hanā
We hope to visit him to attain bliss
غُفِرَتْ خَطَايَانَا إِذَا مَا ضَمَّنَا
حَرَمٌ بِمَكَّةَ مُشْرِفٌ وَشَرِيفُ
ghufirat khaṭāyānā idhā mā ḍammanā
ḥaramun bimakkata mushrifun washarīfu
Our sins are forgiven when we are embraced
By a sanctuary in Mecca, lofty and noble
