قَدْ بَدَا إِلَيَّ
نُورُهَا عَشِيَّا
qad badā ilayya
nūruhā ʿashiyyā
Her light appeared
to me at dusk
ذَاتٌ فَتَنَتْ فِي حُلَى حُسْنِهَا الْبَرِيَّة
dhātun fatanat fī ḥulā ḥusnihal bariyyah
A Essence that enthralled all creation with the ornaments of her beauty
أَسْمَاءٌ جَلِيلَةْ
كَمْ شَفَتْ عَلِيَلا
asmā’un jalīlah
kam shafat ʿaliyalā
Majestic names
How often they have healed the ailing
أَمْسَى قَتِيلاً فِي الْهَوَى وَقَضَى الْمَنِيَّةْ
amsā qatīlan fīl hawā waqaḍal maniyyah
Who had fallen slain in love and met their fate
صَا حِ لَا تَلُمْنِي
مَدْحُ الْنَّبِي فَنِّي
ṣā ḥi lā talumnī
madḥul nnabī fannī
My companion, do not blame me
The praise of the Prophet is my art
خَمْرِيَ وَ دَنِي مِنْ طِلَا ثَغْرِ هَا الدُرِيَّة
khamriya wa danī min ṭilā thaghri had duriyyah
My wine and my intoxication flow from the pearly nectar of her radiant mouth
صَلَى ذُو الْجَلَالِ
عَلَى الْنَّبِي الْغَا لِي
ṣalā dhūl jalāli
ʿalal nnabīl ghā lī
May the Possessor of Majesty send blessings
Upon the precious Prophet,
ثُمَّ الْآلِ ذَوِي الْعُلَا الْصَّحْبِ وَالْذُرِيَّة
thummal li dhawīl ʿulal ṣṣaḥbi wal dhuriyyah
And upon his exalted family, His noble companions, and his blessed progeny
