سَكَنَ الْفُؤَادَ فَعِشْ هَنِيئاً يَا جَسَدْ
The Beloved Dwells Within the Heart, So Live in Bliss

مَدَدْ مَدَدْ مَدَدْ مَدَدْ
مَدَدْ يَا رَسُولَ الله
madad madad madad madad
madad yā rasūla Allah
Assist us! Assist us!
Assist us, O Messenger of Allah!
سَكَنَ الْفُؤَادَ فَعِشْ هَنِيئاً يَا جَسَدْ
هَذَا النَّعِيمُ هُوَ الْمُقِيمُ إِلَى الْأَبَدْ
sakanal fuāda faʿish hanī’an yā jasad
hadhan naʿīmu huwal muqīmu ilal abad
The Beloved has settled within the heart, so live in bliss, O body,
This is the lasting delight, abiding forevermore
أَصْبَحْتُ فِي كَنَفِ الْحَبِيبِ وَمَنْ يَكُنْ
جَارَ الْحَبِيبِ فَعَيْشُهُ الْعَيْشُ الرَّغَدْ
aṣbaḥtu fī kanafil ḥabībi waman yakun
jāral ḥabībi faʿayshuhul ʿayshur raghad
You have come beneath the shelter of the Beloved; and whoever,
Dwells as the Beloved’s neighbor, his life is a life of ease and joy
عِشْ فِي أَمَانِ اللَّهِ تَحْتَ لِوَائِهِ
لَا خَوْفَ فِي هَذَا الْجَنَابِ وَلَا نَكَدْ
ʿish fī amānillāhi taḥta liwā’ihi
lā khawfa fī hadhal janābi walā nakad
Live secure in Allah’s protection, beneath His banner,
Within this presence there is neither fear nor distress
لَا تَخْشَ مِنْ فَقْرٍ فَعِنْدَكَ بَيْتُ مَنْ
كُلُّ الْمُنَى لَكَ مِنْ أَيَادِيهِ مَدَدْ
lā takhsha min faqrin faʿindaka baytu man
kullul munā laka min ayādīhi madad
Fear no poverty, for beside you stands the House of him,
From whose generous hands all that you desire comes as aid
رَبُّ الْجَمَالِ وَمُرْسِلُ الْجَدْوَى
هُوَ فِي الْمَحَاسِنِ كُلِّهَا فَرْدٌ أَحَدْ
rabbul jamāli wamursilul jadwā
huwa fīl maḥāsini kullihā fardun aḥad
The Lord of Beauty, the Sender of abundant bounty,
He is unique and peerless in every perfection
قُطْبُ النُّهَى غَوْثُ الْعَوَالِمِ كُلِّهَا
أَعْلَى مَنْ سَادَ أَحْمَدُ مَنْ حَمَدْ
quṭbun nuhā ghawthul ʿawālimi kullihā
aʿlā man sāda aḥmadu man ḥamad
The Pole of wisdom, the Succor of all the worlds,
The loftiest of all who ever held mastery, Aḥmad, the most praised
رُوحُ الْوُجُودِ حَيَاةُ مَنْ هُوَ وَاجِدُ
لَوْلَاهُ مَا تَمَّ الْوُجُودُ لِمَنْ وَجَدْ
rūḥul wujūdi ḥayātu man huwa wājidu
lawlāhu mā tammal wujūdu liman wajad
The spirit of existence, the life of every living soul,
Were it not for him, existence would not have reached its fullness
عِيسَى وَآدَمُ وَالصُّدُورُ جَمِيعُهُمْ
هُمْ أَعْيُنٌ هُوَ نُورُهَا لَمَّا وَرَدْ
ʿīsā wa ādamu waṣ ṣudūru jamīʿuhum
hum aʿyunun huwa nūruhā lammā warad
Jesus and Adam, and all the foremost ones among creation,
They are as eyes, while he is the light by which those eyes behold
لَوْ أَبْصَرَ الشَّيْطَانُ طَلْعَةَ نُورِهِ
فِي وَجْهِ آدَمَ كَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ سَجَدْ
law abṣarash shayṭānu ṭalʿata nūrihi
fī wajhi ādama kāna awwala man sajad
Had Satan beheld the radiance of his light,
Upon the face of Adam, he would have been the first to prostrate
أَوْ لَوْ رَأَى النُّمْرُودُ نُورَ جَمَالِهِ
عَبَدَ الْجَلِيلَ مَعَ الْخَلِيلِ وَلَا عَنَدْ
aw law ra’an numrūdu nūra jamālihi
ʿabadal jalīla maʿal khalīli walā ʿanad
And had Nimrud seen the light of his beauty,
He would have worshipped the Majestic One beside the Prophet Abraham, without defiance
لَكِنَّ جَمَالَ اللَّهِ جَلَّ فَلَا يُرَى
إِلَّا بِتَخْصِيصٍ مِنَ اللَّهِ الصَّمَدْ
lakinna jamāla Allahi jalla falā yurā
illā bitakhṣīṣin mina Allahiṣ ṣamad
Yet the Beauty of Allah is exalted beyond all sight,
Except through a special grace granted by Allah, the Eternal Refuge
فَأَبْشِرْ بِمَنْ سَكَنَ الْجَوَانِحَ مِنْكَ يَا
مَنْ قَدْ مَلَأْتَ مِنَ الْمُنَى عَيْناً وَيَدْ
fa abshir biman sakanal jawāniḥa minka yā
man qad mala’ta minal munā ʿaynan wayad
So rejoice in the one who has taken up residence within your breast,
O you whose eyes and hands have been filled with every longing fulfilled
عَيْنُ الْوَفَا مَعْنَى الصَّفَا سِرُّ النَّدَى
نُورُ الْهُدَى وَرُوحُ النُّهَى جَسَدُ الرُّشْدْ
ʿaynul wafā maʿnaṣ ṣafā sirrun nadā
nūrul hudā warūḥun nuhā jasadur rushd
The very essence of faithfulness, the meaning of purity, the secret of generosity,
The light of guidance, the spirit of wisdom, the embodiment of right guidance
ثُمَّ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ الْمُرْتَضَى
الْجَامِعِ الْمَخْصُوصِ مَا دَامَ الْأَبَدْ
thummaṣ ṣalātu ʿalan nabiyyil murtaḍā
aljāmiʿil makhṣūṣi mā dāmal abad
Then may blessings ever rest upon the Chosen Prophet,
The all-embracing one, uniquely favored, for as long as eternity endures
