قَدْ تَمَّمَ اللهُ مَقَاصِدْنَا
Allah has Fulfilled our Aims

قَدْ تَمَّمَ اللهُ مَقَاصِدَنَا
وَزَال عَنَّا جَمِيعُ الهَمّ
qad tammama Allahu maqāṣidanā
wazaāl ʿannā jamīʿul hamm
God has fulfilled our objectives
and all grief has departed from us
بِبَرَكَةِ النُّورِ شَافِعْنَا
جُودُهْ وَفَضْلُهْ عَلَيْنَا عَمّ
bibarakatin nūri shāfiʿnā
jūduh wafaḍluh ʿalaynā ʿamm
By the blessing of the Light, our intercessor
whose generosity and grace have encompassed us
طَابَتْ بِذِكْرِهْ مَشَارِبْنَا
وَ كَمْ مِنَنْ لُهْ عَلَيْنَا كَمْ
ṭābat bidhikrih mashāribnā
wa kam minan luh ʿalaynā kam
Our springs grew sweet by his remembrance
and how many favors has he bestowed upon us, how many!
وَكَمْ تَفَضَّلْ وَكَمْ أَغْنَى
وَ كَمْ تَكَرَّمْ وَ كَمْ أَنْعَمْ
wakam tafaḍḍal wakam aghnā
wa kam takarram wa kam anʿam
How often has He shown grace and enriched
how often has He been generous and bestowed blessings
ذَا وَعْدُ جَانَا بِلَاسَهْنَا
سُبْحَانَ مَولَايَ مَنْ أَلْهَمْ
dhā waʿdu jānā bilāsahnā
subḥāna mawlāya man alham
This is a promise that reached us without toil
Glory be to my Lord, the One who inspired
مَبْنَى الهَوَى عِنْدَنَا مَبْنَى
بِالشَّانِ دَاخِلُهْ أنْ يَسْلَمْ
mabnal hawā ʿindanā mabnā
bish shāni dākhiluh an yaslam
The edifice of love with us is a structure
of high standing wherein he who enters is safe
وَ لُهْ حَقِيقَةْ وَ لُهْ مَعْنَى
قَلِيلٌ تَلْحَقْهُ مَنْ تَرْجَمْ
wa luh ḥaqīqah wa luh maʿnā
qalīlun talḥaqhu man tarjam
It has a reality and it has a meaning
that few who interpret it can truly reach
لَيْلَةْ صَفَا قَدْ صَفَتْ مَعْنَا
وَنُورُهَا بَيْنَنَا يُقْسَمْ
laylah ṣafā qad ṣafat maʿnā
wanūruhā baynanā yuqsam
A night of serenity has become serene for us
and its light is distributed among us
وَضَرْبَةُ الطَّبْلِ تُطْرِبْنَا
وَرَاجِيَ اللهِ مَا يُحْرَمْ
waḍarbatuṭ ṭabli tuṭribnā
warājiya Allahi mā yuḥram
The beating of the drum delights us
and the seeker of God is never deprived
حَاشَا إِلَهِي يُخَيِّبْنَا
وَلُهْ مَوَاهِبْ عَلَيْنَا جَمّ
ḥāshā ilahī yukhayyibnā
waluh mawāhib ʿalaynā jamm
Far be it from my God to disappoint us
while He has abundant gifts for us
حُسْنُ الرَّجَا فِيهِ قَائِدْنَا
لِلخَيْرِ فِي ذِهْ كَذَا فِي ثَمّ
ḥusnur rajā fīhi qā’idnā
lilkhayri fī dhih kadhā fī thamm
Goodly hope in Him is our guide
toward goodness in this world and in the next
عَسَى بِفَضْلِه يُعَامِلْنَا
مِنَ العَطَبْ وَالغَضَبْ نَسْلَمْ
ʿasā bifaḍlih yuʿāmilnā
minal ʿaṭab wal ghaḍab naslam
May He treat us with His grace
that we may be saved from ruin and wrath
فِي جَنَّةِ الخُلْدِ يُدْخِلْنَا
مَعَ النَّبِي المُصْطَفَى الأَكْرَمْ
fī jannatil khuldi yudkhilnā
maʿan nabīl muṣṭafal akram
In the Garden of Eternity may He admit us
with the Chosen Prophet, the most noble
وَعَاقِبَتْنَا تَقَعْ حُسْنَى
فِي حِينْ مَا عُمْرُنَا يُخْتَمْ
waʿāqibatnā taqaʿ ḥusnā
fī ḥīn mā ʿumrunā yukhtam
And may our final end be a goodly one
at the moment when our lives are sealed
صَلُّوا عَلَى مَنْ بِهِ سُدْنَا
عَلَى فَصِيحٍ كَذَا أْعْجَمْ
ṣallū ʿalā man bihi sudnā
ʿalā faṣīḥin kadhā ʿjam
Invoke blessings upon him through whom we excelled
over the eloquent and the non-Arab alike
مَا حَرَّكَ الطَّبْلَ مَن غَنَّى
وَنَاحَ بِالصَّوْتْ وَتَرَنَّمْ
mā ḥarrakaṭ ṭabla man ghannā
wanāḥa biṣ ṣawt watarannam
As long as the singer moves the drum
and raises his voice in chanting and melody
