أَلْفٍ صَلَّى الله عَلَى زَيْنِ الْوُجُودْ
A Thousand Blessings of Allah Be upon the Beauty of Existence

أَلْفٍ صَلَّى الله عَلَى زَيْنِ الْوُجُودْ
مَنْ سَكَنْ طَيْبَة وَخَيَّمْ في زَرُودْ
alfin ṣalla Allah ʿalā zaynil wujūd
man sakan ṭaybah wakhayyam fī zarūd
A thousand blessings of Allah be upon the Beauty of Existence,
The one who dwells in Taybah and encamped at Zarud
يَا بُدُورَ الْحَيِّ يَا رَبْعَ الْكِرَامْ
بَلِّغُو ظَبْيَ الْحِمَى مِنِّي السَّلَامْ
yā budūral ḥayyi yā rabʿal kirām
ballighū ẓabyal ḥimā minnīs salām
O full moons of the encampment, O abode of the noble ones,
Convey my greetings to the gazelle of the sanctuary
إِنْ تَهَتَكْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ لَا نُلَامْ
غَلَبَ الْوَجْدُ عَلَيْنَا وَ الْغَرَامْ
in tahataknā ʿalaykum lā nulām
ghalabal wajdu ʿalaynā wal gharām
If our passion for you lays us bare, we are not to be blamed,
Yearning and love have utterly overcome us
لَا يَنَامُ اللَّيْلَ عَاشِقْ مُسْتَهَامْ
إِنَّمَا النَّومُ عَلَى الْعَاشِقْ حَرَامْ
lā yanāmul layla ʿāshiq mustahām
innaman nawmu ʿalal ʿāshiq ḥarām
The enamored lover does not sleep through the night,
For sleep is forbidden to the one consumed by love
سَادَتِي إِنْ لَمْ تَحِنُّو بِاللِّقَا
مِتُّ وَجْدًا فَلَكُمْ طُولُ الْبَقَاء
sādatī in lam taḥinnū bil liqā
mittu wajdan falakum ṭūlul baqā’
My masters, if you do not show mercy with a meeting,
I shall die of longing, yet may you ever remain
أَنَا إِنْ لَمْ أَهْوَا غِزْلَانَ النَّقَاء
أَيُّ فَرْقٍ بَيْنَ قَلْبِي وَ الْجَمَادْ
anā in lam ahwā ghizlānan naqā’
ayyu farqin bayna qalbī wal jamād
If I do not love the gazelles of al-Naqa,
Then what difference is there between my heart and lifeless stone?
آنَسَ اللهُ بِكُمْ أَوْقَاتَنَا
وَسَقَى وَادِيكُمُ فَيْضَ الْغَمَامْ
ānasa Allahu bikum awqātanā
wasaqā wādīkumu fayḍal ghamām
May Allah make our hours delightful through you,
And may the pouring clouds water your valley
