Qasida of the Noble Prophetic Chamber
En
يَا سَيِّدِي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ خُذْ بِيَدِي
مَا لِي سِوَاكَ وَلَا أَلْوِي عَلَى أَحَدِ
yā sayyidī yā rasūla Allahi khudh biyadī
mā lī siwāka walā alwī ʿalā aḥadi
O my master, O Messenger of Allah, take my hand;
I have none besides you, nor do I turn to anyone else.
فَأَنْتَ نُورُ الْهُدَى فِي كُلِّ كَائِنَةٍ
وَأَنْتَ سِرُّ النَّدَى يَا خَيْرَ مُعْتَمَدِ
fa anta nūrul hudā fī kulli kā’inatin
wa anta sirrun nadā yā khayra muʿtamadi
For you are the light of guidance in every being,
And you are the secret of generosity, O best of those upon whom reliance is placed.
وَأَنْتَ حَقًّا غِيَاثُ الْخَلْقِ أَجْمَعِهِمْ
وَأَنْتَ هَادِي الْوَرَى لِلَّهِ ذِي السَّدَدِ
wa anta ḥaqqan ghiyāthul khalqi ajmaʿihim
wa anta hādīl warā lillāhi dhīs sadadi
Truly, you are the helper of all creation,
And you are the guide of mankind unto Allah, the Lord of right guidance.
يَا مَنْ يَقُومُ مَقَامَ الْحَمْدِ مُنْفَرِدًا
لِلْوَاحِدِ الْفَرْدِ لَمْ يُولَدْ وَلَمْ يَلِدِ
yā man yaqūmu maqāmal ḥamdi munfaridan
lilwāḥidil fardi lam yūlad walam yalidi
O you who stand alone in the station of praise,
For the One, the Singular — He was not born, nor did He beget.
يَا مَنْ تَفَجَّرَتِ الْأَنْهَارُ نَابِعَةً
مِنْ إِصْبَعَيْهِ فَرَوَّى الْجَيْشَ بِالْمَدَدِ
yā man tafajjaratil anhāru nābiʿatan
min iṣbaʿayhi farawwal jaysha bil madadi
O you from whose two fingers streams burst forth,
And thereby the army was given drink and sustained with abundance.
إِنِّي إِذَا سَامَنِي ضَيْمٌ يُرَوِّعُنِي
أَقُولُ يَا سَيِّدَ السَّادَاتِ يَا سَنَدِي
innī idhā sāmanī ḍaymun yurawwiʿunī
aqūlu yā sayyidas sādāti yā sanadī
Whenever some oppression befalls me and troubles my heart,
I cry out: “O Master of masters, O my support!”
كُنْ لِي شَفِيعًا إِلَى الرَّحْمَنِ مِنْ زَلَلٍ
وَامْنُنْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا لَا كَانَ فِي خَلَدِي
kun lī shafīʿan ilar raḥmani min zalalin
wam nun ʿalayya bimā lā kāna fī khaladī
Be my intercessor before the Most Merciful for my slips and faults,
And bestow upon me that which I could never have imagined.
وَانْظُرْ بِعَيْنِ الرِّضَا لِي دَائِمًا أَبَدًا
وَاسْتُرْ بِفَضْلِكَ تَقْصِيرِي إِلَى الْأَمَدِ
wan ẓur biʿaynir riḍā lī dā’iman abadan
was tur bifaḍlika taqṣīrī ilal amadi
Look upon me always and forever with the eye of gracious favour,
And, through your bounty, conceal my shortcomings until the end of time.
وَاعْطِفْ عَلَيَّ بِعَفْوٍ مِنْكَ يَشْمَلُنِي
فَإِنَّنِي عَنْكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ لَمْ أَحِدِ
waʿ ṭif ʿalayya biʿafwin minka yashmalunī
fa innanī ʿanka yā mawlāya lam aḥidi
Turn towards me with a pardon from you that encompasses me,
For, O my beloved master, I have never turned away from you.
إِنِّي تَوَسَّلْتُ بِالْمُخْتَارِ أَفْضَلِ مَنْ
رَقَى السَّمَاوَاتِ سِرِّ الْوَاحِدِ الْأَحَدِ
innī tawassaltu bil mukhtāri afḍali man
raqas samāwāti sirril wāḥidil aḥadi
Indeed, I seek a means through the Chosen One, the best of those
Who ascended the heavens — by the secret of the One, the Unique.
رَبُّ الْجَمَالِ تَعَالَى اللهُ خَالِقُهُ
فَمِثْلَهُ فِي جَمِيعِ الْخَلْقِ لَمْ أَجِدِ
rabbul jamāli taʿāla Allahu khāliquhu
famithlahu fī jamīʿil khalqi lam ajidi
He is the Lord of Beauty; exalted is Allah, his Creator.
I have found none like him among all creation.
خَيْرُ الْخَلَائِقِ أَعْلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ ذُرًى
ذُخْرُ الْأَنَامِ وَهَادِيهِمْ إِلَى الرُّشْدِ
khayrul khalā’iqi aʿlal mursalīna dhuran
dhukhrul anāmi wahādīhim ilar rushdi
The best of creation, the loftiest of all the Messengers,
The treasure of mankind and their guide unto the path of right guidance.
بِهِ الْتَجَأْتُ لَعَلَّ اللهَ يَغْفِرَ لِي
هَذَا الَّذِي هُوَ فِي ظَنِّي وَمُعْتَقَدِي
bihil taja’tu laʿalla Allaha yaghfira lī
hadhal ladhī huwa fī ẓannī wamuʿtaqadī
To him I have sought refuge, hoping that Allah may forgive me;
This is what I hold in my expectation and firmly believe.
فَمَدْحُهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ دَأْبِي مَدَى عُمُرِي
وَحُبُّهُ عِنْدَ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ مُسْتَنَدِي
famadḥuhu lam yazal da’bī madā ʿumurī
waḥubbuhu ʿinda rabbil ʿarshi mustanadī
For praising him has ever been my way throughout my life,
And love of him, before the Lord of the Throne, is my reliance.
عَلَيْهِ أَزْكَى صَلَاةٍ لَمْ تَزَلْ أَبَدًا
مَعَ السَّلَامِ بِلَا حَصْرٍ وَلَا عَدَدِ
ʿalayhi azkā ṣalātin lam tazal abadan
maʿas salāmi bilā ḥaṣrin walā ʿadadi
Upon him be the purest blessings, forever and without end,
Together with peace — without limit and without number.
وَالْآلِ وَالصَّحْبِ أَهْلِ الْمَجْدِ قَاطِبَةً
وَتَابِعِيهِمْ بِإِحْسَانٍ إِلَى الْأَبَدِ
wal āli waṣ ṣaḥbi ahlil majdi qāṭibatan
watābiʿīhim bi iḥsānin ilal abadi
And upon his family and companions, all people of nobility,
And upon those who follow them with excellence, forever and ever.
