أَيَا مُرِيْدَ الله

الله الله الله الله سَيَّدِي الله
الله الله الله اَلْعَظِيْمُ الله
Allah Allah Allah Allah sayyadī Allah
Allah Allah Allah alʿaẓiymu Allah
Allah Allah Allah Allah, my Master Allah
Allah Allah Allah, the Magnificent Allah
أَيَا مُرِيْدَ اللهُ نُعِيدْ لَكْ قَوْلِ اصْغَهْ
إِذَا تَفْهَمْ قَوْلِي بِهِ تَصِلْ لِلّهْ
ayā muriyda Allahu nuʿīd lak qawliṣ ghah
idhā tafham qawlī bihi taṣil lillāh
O Seeker of Allah! I reiterate my words, so listen attentively!
If you understand my word, through it you shall reach God
عَلَيْكَ يَا مُرِيدْ بِخَمْرَةِ التَّوْحِيدُه
وَإِنْ تَبْغِ الْمَزِيدْ فَالْغَيْرُ عَنْكَ انْسَهْ
ʿalayka yā murīd bikhamratit tawḥīduh
wa in tabghil mazīd fal ghayru ʿankan sah
Take hold, O seeker, of the wine of Divine Oneness
and if you desire more, forget all that is other than Him.
فَاذْكُرْ الاسْمَ الْأَعْظَمْ وَاطْوِ الْكَوْنَ تَغْنَمْ
وَخُضْ بَحْرَ الْقِدَمْ فَذَاكَ بَحْرُ الله
fadh kural āsmal aʿẓam waṭ wil kawna taghnam
wakhuḍ baḥral qidam fadhāka baḥru Allah
So invoke the Greatest Name, and fold up the cosmos; you will prevail
And plunge into the sea of Pre-eternity, for that is the sea of God
وَخُضْ بَحْرَ الْأَنْوَارْ وَالْمَعْنَى وَالْأَسَرَارْ
وَافْنِ هَذِي الدِّيَارْ يَبْلُغْ قَلْبُكْ مُنَاهْ
wakhuḍ baḥral anwar wal maʿnā wal asarār
waf ni hadhīd diyār yablugh qalbuk munāh
Plunge into the sea of lights, meanings, and secrets
and annihilate this ephemeral world, your heart will attain its longing
وَلْتَفْنَ في الْمَعْبُودْ تَذُوقْ مَعْنَى الشُّهُودُ
إِذْ لَيْسَ ذَا الْوُجُودْ إِلَّا مِنْ نُورِ الله
waltafna fīl maʿbūd tadhūq maʿnash shuhūdu
idh laysa dhal wujūd illā min nūrillāh
Annihilate yourself in the Worshipped One to taste the meaning of witnessing
For this existence is nothing but from the light of God
الْمُلْكُ وَالْمَلَكُوتْ كَذَاكَ الْجَبَرُوتْ
فَكُلُهَا نُعُوتْ وَالذَّاتُ مُسَمَّاهُ
almulku wal malakūt kadhākal jabarūt
fakuluhā nuʿūt wadh dhātu musammāhu
The physical, the celestial, and the realm of divine power
All of these are but attributes, and the Essence is the One named
فَغِبْ عَنِ الصِّفَاتْ وَافْنَ في ذَاتِ الذَّاتْ
هَذِي تَلَوُّنَاتْ مَصِيرُهَا لِلِهُ
faghib ʿaniṣ ṣifat waf na fī dhātidh dhāt
hadhī talawwunāt maṣīruhā lillāhu
Fade from the attributes and perish in the Essence of the Essence
These are but fluctuations whose end result is to God.
إِلَيْهِ الْمُنْتَهَى وَمِنْهُ الْمُبْتَدَا
وَالْآنَ قَدْ بَدَا وَالْكَوْنُ فِي حُلَاهْ
ilayhil muntahā waminhul mubtadā
wal āna qad badā wal kawnu fī ḥulāh
To Him is the final end and from Him is the beginning
and now He’s manifest and the universe is clad with His finery
لَهُ الْكَوْنُ مِرْآتْ وَمَظْهَرُ الصِّفَاتْ
مُحَمَّدْ نُورُ الذَّاتْ عَلَيْهِ صَلَّى الله
lahul kawnu mirāt wamaẓharuṣ ṣifat
muḥammad nūrudh dhāt ʿalayhi ṣalla Allah
The universe is His mirror and the manifestation of His attributes
Muhammad is the light of the Essence, may God's blessings be upon him
الْعَلَاوِيْ يَقُوْلْ قَوْلًا مِنْهُ مَقْبُولُ
تَهِيْمُ بِهِ الْعُقُولْ تَغِيبْ فِي ذَاتِ الله
alʿalāwiy yaquwl qawlan minhu maqbūlu
tahiymu bihil ʿuqūl taghīb fī dhātillāh
Al-Alawi utters a saying that is accepted from him
by which minds are lost in rapture, and vanish in the Essence of God.
