قَصِيدَةُ الْمَقْبُولَةِ
The Accepted Poem
En
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَى مُحَمَّدْ
صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمْ
ṣalla Allahu ʿalā muḥammad
ṣalla Allahu ʿalayhi wasallam
May Allah send blessings upon Muhammad,
May Allah send peace and blessings upon him
رَوْضَةُ الْهَادِي نَبِيِنَا
هُيِّئَتْ لِلْمُتَّقِينَا
rawḍatul hādī nabiyinā
huyyi’at lilmuttaqīnā
The garden of the Guide, our Prophet,
Has been prepared for the Godfearing
كُلُّ مَنْ قَالُوا رَضِينَا
بِالْحَبِيبْ مَوْلَاىْ مُحَمَّدْ
kullu man qālū raḍīnā
bil ḥabīb mawlā’ muḥammad
All who say, "We are pleased,
With the Beloved, our master Muhammad.”
حُبُّهُ عَيْنُ الْكَمَالِ
جَاهُهُ عَالٍ وَغَالِ
ḥubbuhu ʿaynul kamāli
jāhuhu ʿālin waghāli
Love for him is the essence of perfection,
His rank is lofty and precious
صَحْبُهُ خَيْرُ الرِّجَالِ
بَايَعُوا الْهَادِي مُحَمَّدْ
ṣaḥbuhu khayrur rijāli
bāyaʿūl hādī muḥammad
His companions are the best of men,
They pledged allegiance to the Guide Muhammad
وَجْهُهُ فَاقَ الْبُدُورَا
زَادَهُ الْمَوْلَى سُرُورَا
wajhuhu fāqal budūrā
zādahul mawlā surūrā
His face surpassed the full moons,
The Lord increased him in joy
قَدْ بَدَا فِي الْكَوْنِ نُورَا
قَبْلَ خَلْقِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ
qad badā fīl kawni nūrā
qabla khalqillāhi muḥammadu
A light appeared in the universe,
Before the creation of Allah, Muhammad
حُبُّهُ فَرْضٌ وَحَتْمُ
مِدْحَهُ خَيْرٌ وَغُنْمُ
ḥubbuhu farḍun waḥatmu
midḥahu khayrun waghunmu
Love for him is an obligation and duty,
Praising him is goodness and gain
لَيْسَ يَأْتِي الْقَلْبَ هَمُّ
لِلَّذِي يَهْوَي مُحَمَّدْ
laysa ya’tīl qalba hammu
lilladhī yahwaī muḥammad
No sorrow comes to the heart,
Of the one who loves Muhammad
بَحْرُ عِلْمِ اللهِ أَحْمَدْ
كُلُّ مَنْ يَلْقَاهُ يَسْعَدْ
baḥru ʿilmillāhi aḥmad
kullu man yalqāhu yasʿad
Ahmad is the ocean of God's knowledge
whoever meets him attains felicity
حَوْضُهُ الصَّافِي الْمُبَرَّدْ
لِلَّذِي يَعْشَقْ مُحَمَّدْ
ḥawḍuhuṣ ṣāfīl mubarrad
lilladhī yaʿshaq muḥammad
His pool is pure and cool
for the one who adores Muhammad
يَفْتَحُ اللهُ الْعَوَالِمْ
بإِمَامٍ لِلْمَكَارِمْ
yaftaḥu Allahul ʿawālim
bimāmin lilmakārim
God opens the worlds
through the Imam of noble virtues
لِجَمِيعِ الرُّسْلِ خَاتَمْ
الحَبِيبْ مَوْلَاىْ مُحَمَّدْ
lijamīʿir rusli khātam
alḥabīb mawlā’ muḥammad
The Seal of all the Messengers
the Beloved, my master Muhammad
خَيْرُ خَلْقِ اللهِ طَهَ
مِثْلُ شَمْسٍ فِي ضُحَاهَا
khayru khalqillāhi ṭaha
mithlu shamsin fī ḍuḥāhā
Taha is the best of God's creation
like the sun in its morning brightness
هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا نَرَاهَا
فِي ضِيَاءٍ مِنْ مُحَمَّدْ
hadhihid dunyā narāhā
fī ḍiyā’in min muḥammad
This world we behold
is within the radiance of Muhammad
أَكْحَلُ الْعَيْنَيْنِ أَدْعَجْ
نُورُهُ الْمَحْبُوبُ أَبْلَجْ
akḥalul ʿaynayni adʿaj
nūruhul maḥbūbu ablaj
Dark-eyed and deep-pupilled
his beloved light is radiant
أَشْنَبُ الْأَسْنَانِ أَفْلَجْ
فَاقَ رُسْلَ اللّهْ مُحَمَّدْ
ashnabul asnāni aflaj
fāqa rusla Allah muḥammad
With bright teeth and fine gaps
Muhammad surpassed God's messengers
وَجْهُهُ يَا نَاسُ نَائِرْ
سَيِّدِي مَوْلَى الْبَشَائِرْ
wajhuhu yā nāsu nā’ir
sayyidī mawlal bashā’ir
O people, his face is luminous
my master, the lord of glad tidings
ذُخْرُنَا نُورُ الْبَصَائِرْ
إِسْمُهُ الْهَادِي مُحَمَّدْ
dhukhrunā nūrul baṣā’ir
ismuhul hādī muḥammad
Our treasure, the light of insights
his name is the Guide Muhammad
قَدْرُهُ الْعَالِي الْمُفَضَّلْ
وَصْفُهُ الْغَالِي الْمُكَمَّلْ
qadruhul ʿālīl mufaḍḍal
waṣfuhul ghālīl mukammal
His rank is high and preferred
his description is precious and perfected
وَحْيُ رَبِّي قَدْ تَنَزَّلْ
لِلْحَبِيبْ مَوْلَاىْ مُحَمَّدْ
waḥyu rabbī qad tanazzal
lilḥabīb mawlā’ muḥammad
The revelation of my Lord descended
upon the Beloved, my master Muhammad
فَضْلُهُ عَمَّ النَّوَاحِي
لِظَلَامِ الْكُفْرِ مَاحِي
faḍluhu ʿamman nawāḥī
liẓalāmil kufri māḥī
His grace encompassed all regions
erasing the darkness of disbelief
فِي الصَّحَارِى وَالْبِطَاحِ
أَشْرَقَتْ أَنْوَارْ مُحَمَّدْ
fīṣ ṣaḥāriā wal biṭāḥi
ashraqat anwar muḥammad
In the deserts and the valleys
the lights of Muhammad have shone
شَرْعُهُ لِلْكَوْنِ يَعْمُرْ
وَبِهِ الْأَيَّامُ تَفْخَرْ
sharʿuhu lilkawni yaʿmur
wabihil ayyāmu tafkhar
His Law makes the universe flourish
and the days take pride in him
دَمْعُ مَنْ يَهْوَاهُ يَقْطُرْ
مِنْ غَرَامٍ فِي مُحَمَّدْ
damʿu man yahwāhu yaqṭur
min gharāmin fī muḥammad
The tears of his lover drip
from the passion for Muhammad
حُسْنُهُ لِلْبَدْرِ أَخْجَلْ
وَبِهِ غَيْبٌ تَنَزَّلْ
ḥusnuhu lilbadri akhjal
wabihi ghaybun tanazzal
His beauty shamed the full moon
and through him the Unseen descended
وَجُمُوعَ الْكُفْرِ عُطِّلْ
مِنْ عَزِيمِ مَوْلَانَا مُحَمَّدْ
wajumūʿal kufri ʿuṭṭil
min ʿazīmi mawlānā muḥammad
And the hosts of disbelief were thwarted
by the resolve of our master Muhammad
الْبَعِيرُ يَشْكُو الْمَجَاعَهْ
لِلنَّبِيِّ بَيْنَ الْجَمَاعَةْ
albaʿīru yashkūl majāʿah
lilnnabiyyi baynal jamāʿah
The camel complained of hunger
to the Prophet amidst the assembly
قَالَ يَا مَوْلَى الشَّفَاعَةْ
كُنْ شَفِيعِي يَا مُحَمَّدْ
qāla yā mawlash shafāʿah
kun shafīʿī yā muḥammad
It said, "O Lord of Intercession
be my intercessor, O Muhammad"
نَادَتِ الْهَادِي غَزَالَهْ
تَشْتَكِي تُبْدِي مَقَالَهْ
nādatil hādī ghazālah
tashtakī tubdī maqālah
A gazelle called out to the Guide
complaining and stating its plea
يَا إِمَامًا لِلْرِّسَالَهْ
كُنْ ضَمِينِي يَا مُحَمَّدْ
yā imāman lilrrisālah
kun ḍamīnī yā muḥammad
O Imam of the Message
be my guarantor, O Muhammad
هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا كَسَاعَهْ
إِجْعَلِ الْأَعْمَالَ طَاعَهْ
hadhihid dunyā kasāʿah
ijʿalil aʿmāla ṭāʿah
This world is but an hour
so make your deeds acts of obedience
وَاشْتَرِي خَيْرَ بِضَاعَهْ
زَوْرَةَ الْهَادِي مُحَمَّدْ
wash tarī khayra biḍāʿah
zawratal hādī muḥammad
And purchase the best of wares
a visit to the Guide Muhammad
هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا تَزُولُ
وَالْبَقَا لَيْسَ يَطُولُ
hadhihid dunyā tazūlu
wal baqā laysa yaṭūlu
This world shall pass away
and its permanence does not endure
أَيْنَ مَنْ يَمْشِي يَقُولُ
كُنْ شَفِيعِي يَا مُحَمَّدْ
ayna man yamshī yaqūlu
kun shafīʿī yā muḥammad
Where is he who walks saying
"Be my intercessor, O Muhammad"
رَبَّنَا يَسِّرْ وَسَهِّلْ
زَوْرَةَ الْمُخْتَارِ عَجِّلْ
rabbanā yassir wasahhil
zawratal mukhtāri ʿajjil
Our Lord, grant ease and facilitate
hasten the visit to the Chosen One
دَمْعُنَا يَهْمِى وَيَنْزِلْ
مِنْ غَرَامٍ فِي مُحَمَّدْ
damʿunā yahmiā wayanzil
min gharāmin fī muḥammad
Our tears flow and fall
from the passion for Muhammad
رَبَّنَا هَيِّئْ طَرِيقَا
كُنْ لَنَا رَبِّي رَفِيقَا
rabbanā hayyi’ ṭarīqā
kun lanā rabbī rafīqā
Our Lord, prepare a path
be, my Lord, our companion
كَيْ نَرَى بَدْرًا شَفِيقَا
الْحَبِيبْ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
kay narā badran shafīqā
alḥabīb mawlāy muḥammad
That we may see the compassionate moon
the Beloved, my master Muhammad
ظَنُّنَا فِيكَ جَمِيلُ
أَنْتَ يَا رَبِّي وَكِيلُ
ẓannunā fīka jamīlu
anta yā rabbī wakīlu
Our hope in You is beautiful
You, O my Lord, are the Trustee
وَالنَّبِي نِعْمَ الْكَفِيلُ
الْحَبِيبْ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
wan nabī niʿmal kafīlu
alḥabīb mawlāy muḥammad
And the Prophet is the best guarantor
the Beloved, my master Muhammad
كُلُّنَا يَرْجُو الْبَشَارَهْ
بِالرَّحِيلْ نَحْوَ الزِّيَارَهْ
kullunā yarjūl bashārah
bir raḥīl naḥwaz ziyārah
We all hope for the glad tidings
of departing toward the visitation
حَبَّذَا تِلْكَ التِّجَارَهْ
زَوْرَةُ الْهَادِي مُحَمَّدْ
ḥabbadhā tilkat tijārah
zawratul hādī muḥammad
How excellent is that trade
a visit to the Guide Muhammad
أَيْنَ أَصْحَابُ الكَمَالِ
أَيْنَ سَادَاتُ الرِّجَالِ
ayna aṣḥābul kamāli
ayna sādātur rijāli
Where are the people of perfection
where are the masters of men
أَنْفَقُوا مِنْ خَيْرِ مَالِ
قَاصِدِينَ مَوْلَاىْ مُحَمَّدْ
anfaqū min khayri māli
qāṣidīna mawlā’ muḥammad
They spent from the best of wealth
seeking my master Muhammad
دَمْعُهُمْ يَقْطُرْ وَبَادِي
كُلَّمَا حَلُّوا بِوَادِي
damʿuhum yaqṭur wabādī
kullamā ḥallū biwādī
Their tears drip and are visible
whenever they alight in a valley
قَصْدُهُمْ خَيْرُ العِبَادِ
الْحَبِيبْ مَوْلَاىْ مُحَمَّدْ
qaṣduhum khayrul ʿibādi
alḥabīb mawlā’ muḥammad
Their goal is the best of servants
the Beloved, my master Muhammad
سَارَ بِالرَّحْمَنِ سَارَا
رَكْبُهُمْ يَطْوِي الْقِفَارَا
sāra bir raḥmani sārā
rakbuhum yaṭwīl qifārā
By the Merciful they journeyed
their caravan crossing the wilderness
وَرَأَيْنَاهُمْ جَهَارَا
عَاشِقِينْ مَوْلَاىْ مُحَمَّدْ
wara’aynāhum jahārā
ʿāshiqīn mawlā’ muḥammad
And we saw them openly
lovers of my master Muhammad
حَرُّ هَاتِيْكَ الْبَوَادِي
مِثْلُ ثَلْجٍ مِنْ وِدَادِ
ḥarru hātiykal bawādī
mithlu thaljin min widādi
The heat of those deserts
is like snow from affection
حِصْنُهُمْ خَيْرُ الْعِبَادِ
رَحْمَةُ الْهَادِي مُحَمَّدْ
ḥiṣnuhum khayrul ʿibādi
raḥmatul hādī muḥammad
Their fortress is the best of servants
the mercy of the Guide Muhammad
اسْكُبِ الدَّمْعَ حَلَالًا
عِنْدَمَا تَلْقَى الْهِلَالَا
āskubid damʿa ḥalālan
ʿindamā talqal hilālā
Pour forth the tears freely
when you behold the crescent moon
مِنْ بَعِيدٍ قَدْ تَلَالَا
فِيْهِ نُورٌ مِنْ مُحَمَّدْ
min baʿīdin qad talālā
fiyhi nūrun min muḥammad
From afar it has shimmered
containing light from Muhammad
هَذِهِ الْخَضْرَاءُ تَظْهَرْ
نُورُهَا لِلْعَقْلِ يَبْهَرْ
hadhihil khaḍrā’u taẓhar
nūruhā lilʿaqli yabhar
This green dome appears
its light dazzles the intellect
عِنْدَ رُؤْيَاهَا تَحَدَّرْ
دَمْعُ مَنْ يَعْشَقُ مُحَمَّدْ
ʿinda ru’yāhā taḥaddar
damʿu man yaʿshaqu muḥammad
Upon seeing it, there flow
the tears of one who adores Muhammad
رَوْضَةُ الْهَادِي نَبِيِّنَا
تُفْرِحُ الْقَلْبَ الْحَزِينَا
rawḍatul hādī nabiyyinā
tufriḥul qalbal ḥazīnā
The garden of the Guide, our Prophet
gladdens the sorrowful heart
أَبْشِرُوا يَا زَائِرِينَا
بِالشَّفَاعَةِ مِنْ مُحَمَّدْ
abshirū yā zā’irīnā
bish shafāʿati min muḥammad
Rejoice, O visitors of ours
in the intercession from Muhammad
هَذِهِ الرَّوْضَةُ أَبْشِرْ
قَدْ وَصَلْنَا لِلْمُبَشِّرْ
hadhihir rawḍatu abshir
qad waṣalnā lilmubashshir
This is the garden, so rejoice
we have arrived at the Bringer of Tidings
أَمْرُ دُنْيَا لَا تُفَكِّرْ
وَانْظُرِ الْهَادِي مُحَمَّدْ
amru dunyā lā tufakkir
wan ẓuril hādī muḥammad
Think not of worldly matters
and look upon the Guide Muhammad
كُلُّ مَنْ زَارَ الْمَقَامَا
فَالنَّبِي رَدَّ السَّلَامَا
kullu man zāral maqāmā
fan nabī raddas salāmā
Everyone who visits the shrine
the Prophet returns their greeting
يَعْرِفُ الْخَلْقَ تَمَامَا
بَشِّرُوا زُوَّارَ مُحَمَّدْ
yaʿriful khalqa tamāmā
bashshirū zuwwāra muḥammad
He knows the creation perfectly
give glad tidings to the visitors of Muhammad
هَامَتْ الْأَرْوَاحُ حُبًّا
دَمْعُنَا قَدْ سَالَ صَبًّا
hāmatal arwāḥu ḥubban
damʿunā qad sāla ṣabban
The souls wandered in love
our tears flowed in torrents
نَالَتْ الزُّوَّارُ قُرْبًا
لِلْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
nālatz zuwwāru qurban
lilḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
The visitors attained proximity
to the Beloved, my master Muhammad
يَا حَبِيبَ الْمُتَّقِينَا
وَسِرَاجًا وَمُبِينَا
yā ḥabībal muttaqīnā
wasirājan wamubīnā
O Beloved of the God-fearing
and a lamp and manifest light
يَا أَبَا الْقَاسِمْ دُعِينَا
فَأَتَيْنَا يَا مُحَمَّدْ
yā abal qāsim duʿīnā
fa ataynā yā muḥammad
O Abu al-Qasim, we were called
and so we have come, O Muhammad
مَرْحَبًا يَا مُصْطَفَانَا
حُبُّكَ الْغَالِي أَتَانَا
marḥaban yā muṣṭafānā
ḥubbukal ghālī atānā
Welcome, O our Chosen One
your precious love has come to us
مِنْ بَعِيدٍ قَدْ دَعَانَا
لِلْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
min baʿīdin qad daʿānā
lilḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
From afar it called us
to the Beloved, my master Muhammad
كَيْ نَرَي ذَاكَ الْمَقَامَا
فِيهِ بَدْرٌ قَدْ تَسَامَى
kay naraī dhākal maqāmā
fīhi badrun qad tasāmā
That we may see that station
wherein a moon has ascended
وَأَخُو الشَّوْقِ تَسَامِي
مِنْ هِيَامٍ فِي مُحَمَّدْ
wa akhūsh shawqi tasāmī
min hiyāmin fī muḥammad
And the one of longing rose
from the infatuation for Muhammad
يَا شَفِيعًا لِلذُّنُوبِ
وَغِيَاثًا فِي الْكُرُوبِ
yā shafīʿan lildhdhunūbi
waghiyāthan fīl kurūbi
O intercessor for sins
and succor in distresses
وَضِيَاءً لِلْقُلُوبِ
أَنْتَ نُورُ يَا مُحَمَّدْ
waḍiyā’an lilqulūbi
anta nūru yā muḥammad
And a radiance for hearts
you are light, O Muhammad
جَاهُكَ الْمَرْجُو عَظِيمٌ
أَنْتَ مِفْضَالٌ كَرِيمٌ
jāhukal marjū ʿaẓīmun
anta mifḍālun karīmun
Your hoped-for status is great
you are virtuous and generous
وَرَءُوفٌ وَرَحِيمٌ
وَعَفُوٌّ يَا مُحَمَّدْ
wara’ūfun waraḥīmun
waʿafuwwun yā muḥammad
And kind and merciful
and forgiving, O Muhammad
أَبْشِرُوا يَا مَنْ رَأَيْتُمْ
رَوْضَةَ الْهَادِي وَزُرْتُمْ
abshirū yā man ra’aytum
rawḍatal hādī wazurtum
Rejoice, O you who have seen
the garden of the Guide and visited
عِنْدَ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ كُنْتُمْ
زَائِرِينَ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
ʿinda rabbil ʿarshi kuntum
zā’irīna mawlāy muḥammad
With the Lord of the Throne you were
visitors of my master Muhammad
قَدَّرَ الْمَوْلَى السَّعَادَهْ
وَدَعَاكُمْ لِلْعِبَادَهْ
qaddaral mawlas saʿādah
wadaʿākum lilʿibādah
The Lord ordained felicity
and invited you to worship
هَذِهِ الْحُسْنَى زِيَادَهْ
زَوْرَةُ الْهَادِي مُحَمَّدْ
hadhihil ḥusnā ziyādah
zawratul hādī muḥammad
This is the ultimate good and more
a visit to the Guide Muhammad
سَعْدُكُمْ يَا مَنْ تَزُورُوا
وَجْهُكُمْ يَعْلُوهُ نُورُ
saʿdukum yā man tazūrū
wajhukum yaʿlūhu nūru
Happy are you who visit
your faces are covered in light
رَبُّكُمْ رَبٌّ غَفُورُ
لِلَّذِي قَدْ زَارَ مُحَمَّدْ
rabbukum rabbun ghafūru
lilladhī qad zāra muḥammad
Your Lord is an All-Forgiving Lord
for the one who has visited Muhammad
لَوْ رَأَيْنَا الْوَاقِفِينَا
لَوْ رَأَيْنَا الْقَاعِدِينَا
law ra’aynal wāqifīnā
law ra’aynal qāʿidīnā
If we saw those standing
if we saw those sitting
لَوْ رَأَيْنَا السَّائِلِينَا
الشَّفَاعَةَ مِنْ مُحَمَّدْ
law ra’aynas sā’ilīnā
ash shafāʿata min muḥammad
If we saw those asking
for intercession from Muhammad
نُورُ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ يُجْلِي
وَكِتَابُ اللهِ يُتْلِي
nūru khayril khalqi yujlī
wakitābu Allahi yutlī
The light of the best of creation clarifies
and the Book of God is recited
وَعُلُومُ الشَّرْعِ تُمْلِي
عِنْدَ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّد
waʿulūmush sharʿi tumlī
ʿinda mawlāy muḥammad
And the sciences of Law are dictated
with my master Muhammad
إِنْ رَجَعْتُمْ بِالسَّلَامَةْ
أَخْبِرُوا أَهْلَ الْمَلَامَةْ
in rajaʿtum bis salāmah
akhbirū ahlal malāmah
If you return in safety
inform the people of blame
كَيْ يَجِيئُوا مِنْ تِهَامَةْ
لِلْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
kay yajī’ū min tihāmah
lilḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
So they may come from Tihamah
to the Beloved, my master Muhammad
عَرِّفُوهُمْ بِالْمَقَامِ
أَخْبِرُوهُمْ بِالْهِِيَامِ
ʿarrifūhum bil maqāmi
akhbirūhum bil hiiyāmi
Acquaint them with the station
tell them of the infatuation
أَيْقِظُوهُمْ مِنْ مَنَامِ
كَيْ يَزُورُوا لِمُحَمَّدْ
ayqiẓūhum min manāmi
kay yazūrū limuḥammad
Awaken them from slumber
that they may visit Muhammad
لَوْ عَلِمْتُمْ يَا عَوَاذِلْ
مَا سَكَنْتُمْ فِي الْمَنَازِلْ
law ʿalimtum yā ʿawādhil
mā sakantum fīl manāzil
If you but knew, O critics
you would not have stayed in your homes
مَا لَنَا فِي الْقَلْبِ شَاغِلْ
كُلُّنَا يَهْوَى مُحَمَّدْ
mā lanā fīl qalbi shāghil
kullunā yahwā muḥammad
We have no preoccupation in the heart
we all adore Muhammad
قَدْ سَرَيْنَا بِالْمَطَايَا
لِلنَّبِي خَيْرِ الْبَرَايَا
qad saraynā bil maṭāyā
lilnnabī khayril barāyā
We journeyed by night on mounts
to the Prophet, the best of creation
سَيِّدِي كَنْزِ الْعَطَايَا
الْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
sayyidī kanzil ʿaṭāyā
alḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
My master, the treasure of gifts
the Beloved, my master Muhammad
حُبُّهُ يُحْيِي الْقُلُوبَا
يَغْفِرُ اللهُ الذُّنُوبَا
ḥubbuhu yuḥyīl qulūbā
yaghfiru Allahudh dhunūbā
His love revives the hearts
God forgives the sins
يَسْتُرُ اللهُ الْعُيُوبَا
بِالْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
yasturu Allahul ʿuyūbā
bil ḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
God veils the faults
through the Beloved, my master Muhammad
يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ نَادِ
أَهْلَ حُبٍّ وَوِدَادِ
yā rasūla Allahi nādi
ahla ḥubbin wawidādi
O Messenger of God, call out
to the people of love and affection
هُمْ بِشَوْقٍ فِي بِعَادِ
أُدْعُهُمْ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
hum bishawqin fī biʿādi
udʿuhum mawlāy muḥammad
They are in longing while far away
call them, my master Muhammad
وَتَوَجَّهْ لِلْمُقَدِّرْ
رَبُّنَا الْمُعْطِي يُيَسِّرْ
watawajjah lilmuqaddir
rabbunal muʿṭī yuyassir
And turn toward the Ordainer
our Lord, the Giver, grants ease
بَعْدَ عُسْرٍ كَيْ نُبَدِّرْ
لِلْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
baʿda ʿusrin kay nubaddir
lilḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
After hardship that we may hasten
to the Beloved, my master Muhammad
صَلَوَاتٌ طَيِّبَاتُ
زَاكِيَاتٌ نَامِيَاتُ
ṣalawātun ṭayyibātu
zākiyātun nāmiyātu
Pure blessings
wholesome and increasing
غَالِيَاتٌ دَائِمَاتُ
لِلْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
ghāliyātun dā’imātu
lilḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
Precious and perpetual
for the Beloved, my master Muhammad
وَسَلَامُ اللهِ يَتْرَى
عَطَّرَ الْكَوْنَ وَ مَرَّا
wasalāmu Allahi yatrā
ʿaṭṭaral kawna wa marrā
And the peace of God successively
has perfumed the universe as it passed
شَرَحَ الصَّدْرَ وَسَرَّا
لِلْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
sharaḥaṣ ṣadra wasarrā
lilḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
It expanded the breast and gladdened
for the Beloved, my master Muhammad
وَعَلَى الصَّحْبِ الْأَفَاضِلْ
كُلُّ مِفْضَالٍ وَعَامِلْ
waʿalaṣ ṣaḥbil afāḍil
kullu mifḍālin waʿāmil
And upon the virtuous companions
every man of merit and action
بِكِتَابِ اللهِ قَائِلْ
وَكَذَا آلِ مُحَمَّدْ
bikitābillāhi qā’il
wakadhā āli muḥammad
Speaking by the Book of God
and likewise the Prophet's family
عُمَّ بِالرِّضْوَانِ رَبِّي
خَيْرَ صِدِّيقٍ وَصَحْبِ
ʿumma bir riḍwāni rabbī
khayra ṣiddīqin waṣaḥbi
Encompass with pleasure, my Lord
the best truthful one and companion
وَكَذَا الْفَارُوقُ حِبِّي
سَكَنَا قُرْبَ مُحَمَّدْ
wakadhal fārūqu ḥibbī
sakanā qurba muḥammad
And likewise the Faruq, my beloved
they both dwell near Muhammad
عُمَّ ذَا النُّورَيْنِ رَبِّي
وَأَبَا السِّبْطَيْنِ حِبِّي
ʿumma dhan nūrayni rabbī
wa abas sibṭayni ḥibbī
Encompass the Possessor of Two Lights, my Lord
and the Father of the Two Grandsons, my beloved
ثُمَّ لِلْعَمَّيْنِ رَبِّي
ثُمَّ صَحْبًا لِمُحَمَّدْ
thumma lilʿammayni rabbī
thumma ṣaḥban limuḥammad
Then for the two uncles, my Lord
then the companions of Muhammad
عُمَّ لِلسِّبْطَيْنِ رَبِّي
آلِ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ طِبِّي
ʿumma lilssibṭayni rabbī
āli khayril khalqi ṭibbī
Encompass the two grandsons, my Lord
the Prophet's family, my remedy
وَكَذَا الزَّهْرَاءُ تُنْبِي
عَنْ كَمَالٍ فِي مُحَمَّدْ
wakadhaz zahrā’u tunbī
ʿan kamālin fī muḥammad
And likewise al-Zahra who informs
of the perfection in Muhammad
عُمَّ سُهَّارَ اللَّيَالِي
كُلَّ مَنْ لِلْوِرْدِ تَالِي
ʿumma suhhāral layālī
kulla man lilwirdi tālī
Encompass those who wake in the nights
everyone who recites the litany
هُمْ رِجَالُ الِاتِّصَالِ
بِالْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
hum rijālul liāttiṣāli
bil ḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
They are the men of connection
with the Beloved, my master Muhammad
عُمَّ سُكَّانَ الْبَرَارِي
وَالصَّحَارَى وَالْقِفَارِ
ʿumma sukkānal barārī
waṣ ṣaḥārā wal qifāri
Encompass the dwellers of the wastes
and the deserts and the wildernesses
كُلَّ مَجْذُوبٍ وَقَارِي
لِلصَّلَاةِ عَلَى مُحَمَّدْ
kulla majdhūbin waqārī
lilṣṣalāti ʿalā muḥammad
Every ecstatic and reciter
of blessings upon Muhammad
عُمَّ رَبِّي النَّاسِكِينَا
وَالْعِبَادَ الصَّالِحِينَا
ʿumma rabbīn nāsikīnā
wal ʿibādaṣ ṣāliḥīnā
Encompass, my Lord, the ascetics
and the righteous servants
وَالرِّجَالَ الْوَاقِفِينَا
عِنْدَ مَوْلَانَا مُحَمَّدْ
war rijālal wāqifīnā
ʿinda mawlānā muḥammad
And the men standing
at the presence of our master Muhammad
وَبِهِمْ يَا رَبِّ نَصْرَا
دَائِمًا دُنْيَا وَأُخْرَى
wabihim yā rabbi naṣrā
dā’iman dunyā wa ukhrā
And through them, O Lord, grant victory
always in this world and the Hereafter
أَعْظِمَنْ يَا رَبِّ أَجْرَا
بِالْحَبِيبْ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
aʿẓiman yā rabbi ajrā
bil ḥabīb mawlāy muḥammad
Magnify, O Lord, the reward
by the Beloved, my master Muhammad
رَبِّ رُدَّ الْحَاسِدِينَا
عَنْ أَذَانَا خَائِبِينَا
rabbi ruddal ḥāsidīnā
ʿan adhānā khā’ibīnā
Lord, repel the envious ones
from harming us, disappointed
كُنْ لَنَا عَوْنًا مُعِينَا
بِالْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
kun lanā ʿawnan muʿīnā
bil ḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
Be for us a helper and supporter
by the Beloved, my master Muhammad
رَبِّ لَا تَجْعَلْ عِدَانَا
تَتَمَكَّنْ مِنْ أَذَانَا
rabbi lā tajʿal ʿidānā
tatamakkan min adhānā
Lord, do not let our enemies
be able to harm us
اكْسُهُمْ ثَوْبًا هَوَانَا
وَأَجِبْنَا بِمُحَمَّدْ
āksuhum thawban hawānā
wa ajibnā bimuḥammad
Clothe them in a garment of humiliation
and answer us for the sake of Muhammad
عَجِّلِ الْخَوْفَ إِلَيْهِمْ
وَكَذَا الْبَأْسَ عَلَيْهِمْ
ʿajjilil khawfa ilayhim
wakadhal ba’sa ʿalayhim
Hasten fear upon them
and likewise misfortune against them
وَكَذَا الشَّرَّ لَدَيْهِمْ
وَانْصُرَنْ آلَ مُحَمَّدْ
wakadhash sharra ladayhim
wan ṣuran āla muḥammad
And likewise evil with them
and grant victory to the Prophet's family
نَاظِمُ الدُّرِّ الْمُحَرَّرْ
صَالِحٌ مِنْ آلِ جَعْفَرْ
nāẓimud durril muḥarrar
ṣāliḥun min āli jaʿfar
The composer of these refined pearls
is Salih from the family of Ja’far
رَاجِي فَضْلًا مِنْكَ أَكْبَرْ
بِالْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
rājī faḍlan minka akbar
bil ḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
Hoping for a greater grace from You
by the Beloved, my master Muhammad
يَرْجُو فَضْلًا لَنْ يَزُولَا
وَرِضَاءً وَقَبُولَا
yarjū faḍlan lan yazūlā
wariḍā’an waqabūlā
He hopes for a grace that never wanes
and pleasure and acceptance
وَاتِّصَالًا وَوُصُولَا
لِلْحَبِيبِ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
wat tiṣālan wawuṣūlā
lilḥabībi mawlāy muḥammad
And connection and attainment
to the Beloved, my master Muhammad
يَرْجُو فَضْلًا مِنْكَ رَبِّي
زَوْرَةَ الْمُخْتَارِ حِبِّي
yarjū faḍlan minka rabbī
zawratal mukhtāri ḥibbī
He hopes for a grace from You, my Lord
a visit to the Chosen One, my beloved
كُلَّ عَامٍ بَيْنَ صَحْبِ
زَائِرِينَ مَوْلَايْ مُحَمَّدْ
kulla ʿāmin bayna ṣaḥbi
zā’irīna mawlāy muḥammad
Every year among companions
visiting my master Muhammad
وَبِخَيْرٍ فِي الْخِتَامِ
نَبْتَغِي نَيْلَ الْمَرَامِ
wabikhayrin fīl khitāmi
nabtaghī naylal marāmi
And with goodness at the end
we seek to attain our desire
بِجِوَارٍ لِلْمَقَامِ
فِي بَقِيعٍ يَا مُحَمَّدْ
bijiwārin lilmaqāmi
fī baqīʿin yā muḥammad
In proximity to the shrine
in Baqi’, O Muhammad
