أَيُّهَا الْعَاشِقُ مَعْنَى حُسْنِنَا
O Seeker of the Meaning of Our Beauty

لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهَ اللهَ اللهَ
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهَ جُدْ عَلَيْنَا
lā ilāha illa Allaha Allaha Allaha
lā ilāha illa Allaha jud ʿalaynā
There is no God but Allah, Allah Allah
There is no God but Allah, grant us Your bounty!
أَيُّهَا الْعَاشِقُ مَعْنَى حُسْنِنَا
مَهْرُنَــا غَـالِ لِمَنْ يَخْطُبُنَـا
ayyuhal ʿāshiqu maʿnā ḥusninā
mahrunā ghāli liman yakhṭubunā
O Seeker of the Meaning of Our Beauty,
Costly is Our dowry for the one who seeks Our hand
جَسَـدٌ مُضْنًى وَرُوحٌ فِي الْعَنَا
وَجُفُـونٌ لَا تَـذُوقُ الْوَسَنَـا
jasadun muḍnan warūḥun fīl ʿanā
wajufūnun lā tadhūqul wasanā
A body worn away, and a spirit in hardship,
And eyelids that taste no sleep
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهَ اللهَ اللهَ
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهَ جُدْ عَلَيْنَا
lā ilāha illa Allaha Allaha Allaha
lā ilāha illa Allaha jud ʿalaynā
There is no God but Allah, Allah Allah
There is no God but Allah, grant us Your bounty!
وَفُؤَادٌ لَيْسَ فِيهِ غَيْرُنَا
فَإِذَا مَـا شِئْـتَ أَدِّ الْثَّمَنَـا
wafuādun laysa fīhi ghayrunā
fa idhā mā shi’ta addil ththamanā
A heart in which none but We reside
And so if you desire, then pay the price
فَافْنَ إِنْ شِئْتَ فَنَاءً سَرْمَداً
فَالْفَنَا يُدْنِي إِلَى ذَاكَ الْفِنَا
faf na in shi’ta fanā’an sarmadan
fal fanā yudnī ilā dhākal finā
So perish, if you wish, in an everlasting annihilation,
For annihilation is what leads to the open expanse
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهَ اللهَ اللهَ
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهَ جُدْ عَلَيْنَا
lā ilāha illa Allaha Allaha Allaha
lā ilāha illa Allaha jud ʿalaynā
There is no God but Allah, Allah Allah
There is no God but Allah, grant us Your bounty!
وَاخْلَعِ الْنَّعْلَيْنِ إِنْ جِئْتَ إِلَى
ذَلِكَ الْحَيِّ فَفِيهِ قُدْسُنَا
wakh laʿil nnaʿlayni in ji’ta ilā
dhalikal ḥayyi fafīhi qudsunā
And cast off your sandals if you come to
that dwelling, for within it is Our sanctity
وَعَنِ الْكَوْنَيْنِ كُنْ مُنْخَلِعاً
وَأَزِلْ مَا بَيْنَنَا مِنْ بَيْنِنَا
waʿanil kawnayni kun munkhaliʿan
wa azil mā baynanā min bayninā
Strip yourself away from the two worlds,
And remove that which lies between us from between us
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهَ اللهَ اللهَ
لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اللهَ جُدْ عَلَيْنَا
lā ilāha illa Allaha Allaha Allaha
lā ilāha illa Allaha jud ʿalaynā
There is no God but Allah, Allah Allah
There is no God but Allah, grant us Your bounty!
وَ إِذَا قِيْلَ مَنْ تَهوَى فَقُلْ
أَنَا مَنْ أَهْوَى وَ مَنْ أَهْوَى أَنَا
wa idhā qiyla man tahwā faqul
anā man ahwā wa man ahwā anā
And if it is said, “Whom do you love?” then say:
‘I am the one I love, and the one I love is I.’
