صَلَّى اللَّهْ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُور
Blessings Of Allah Be Upon You, O Light
En
صَلَّى اللَّهْ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُور
يَا نُوْرَ كُلِّ الْمَنَازِلْ
ṣalla Allah ʿalayka yā nūr
yā nuwra kullil manāzil
May Allah exalt you, O Light!
Light of every stage on the way,
يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ فِي الْمَنَازِلْ
yā khayra man fīl manāzil
Good of every stage on the way
يَا رَسُوْلَ اللٰهِ أَنْتَ
أَنْتَ الْنُّوْرُ الْمُتَشَكِّلْ
yā rasuwla Allahi anta
antal nnuwrul mutashakkil
O Messenger of Allah you are,
you are light in visible form
نُورٌ عَلَى نُورٍ جِئْتَ
بِهِ الْقُرْآنُ تَنَزَّلْ
nūrun ʿalā nūrin ji’ta
bihil qurānu tanazzal
You have come as light upon light,
through you the Quran was revealed
مِشْكَاةً نُوْراً وَزَيْتَا
ضِيَاءً جِئْتَ مُعْتَدِلْ
mishkātan nuwran wazaytā
ḍiyā’an ji’ta muʿtadil
As a niche, as light and as oil,
you came as a harmonious light
لَا يَكُوْنُ الْكَوْنُ حَتَّى
يَظْهَرْ بِكَ مُتَجَمِّلْ
lā yakuwnul kawnu ḥattā
yaẓhar bika mutajammil
The cosmos could not be until it,
appeared in fair form through you
أَنْتَ فِي الْآثَارِ قُلْتَ
ذَا الْكَوْنُ مِنْكَ تَمَثَّلْ
anta fīl āthāri qulta
dhal kawnu minka tamaththal
You have said of phenomena:
this cosmos was fashioned through you
مِنْ حَضْرَةِ الْقُدْسِ جِئْتَ
وَأَنْتَ فِيهَا لَمْ تَزَلْ
min ḥaḍratil qudsi ji’ta
wa anta fīhā lam tazal
You came from the Holy Presence,
and you’ve never ceased to be there
كُنْتَ قَبْلَ الْكَوْنِ كُنْتَ
وَالأَبَدُ مِثْلُ الأَزَلْ
kunta qablal kawni kunta
wal abadu mithlul azal
You were there before the cosmos,
endless, beginningless alike
مُطْلَقاً كُنْتَ فَصِرْتَا
بِالْقُيُوْدِ مُتَجَمِّلْ
muṭlaqan kunta faṣirtā
bil quyuwdi mutajammil
You were limitless while,
we were formed by being delimited
لَيْسَ فِي الْوُجُودِ الْبَتَّةْ
إِلَّا الْنُّورُ قُلْتُ أَجَلْ
laysa fīl wujūdil battah
illal nnūru qultu ajal
There is nothing in existence, I say,
but the most glorious Light which came
بَدَا مِنَ الْغَيْبِ بَغْتَةْ
مِنْ أَعْلَى الْعُلَا تَنَزَّلْ
badā minal ghaybi baghtah
min aʿlal ʿulā tanazzal
sudden, from the Unseen,
descending from Highest on High
يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ حُزْتَا
فَضْلَ الْفَضْلِ وَالْفَضَائِلْ
yā rasuwla Allahi ḥuztā
faḍlal faḍli wal faḍā’il
O Messenger of Allah, you gained,
greatest merits, highest virtues
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دُمْتَ
وَدُمْتُ لَكَ مُمَتَّثِلْ
yā rasūla Allahi dumta
wadumtu laka mumattathil
Allah’s Messenger you remain,
and I remain your imitator
فَالْعَلَاوِيِ يَرْجُو حَتَّى
يَبْلُغْ بِرِضَاكَ الأَمَلْ
fal ʿalāwiyi yarjū ḥattā
yablugh biriḍākal amal
So al-’Alawi hopes he may gain,
all his hopes through your acceptance
يَا رَسُوْلَ اللهِ أَنْتَ
أَنْتَ الْنُّوْرُ الْمُتَشَكِّلْ
yā rasuwla Allahi anta
antal nnuwrul mutashakkil
O Messenger of Allah you are,
you are light in visible form
