I Have Beloveds In Medina; When They Gaze Upon Me

lī fīl madīnati aḥbābun idhā naẓarū
ilayya wallat humūmī wan jalaḍ ḍararu
I have beloved ones in Medina, when they gaze upon me,
My worries vanish, and harm is lifted
wa aṣbaḥal qalbu fī unsin wafī faraḥin
jammin waṣāḥabanīt tawfīqu waẓ ẓafaru
And the heart awakens in intimacy and abundant joy,
While success and victory become my close companions
yā ahla ṭaybata hayyā innanī danifun
wa innanī lilladhī ammaltu muntaẓiru
O people of Ṭaybah, come, for I am worn by love,
Waiting in anticipation for that which I have hoped.
jarat ʿawā’idukum annal muḥibba idhā
nādākumu bilisānil ḥubbi yanjabiru
It has been your custom that the lover, when he calls
Upon you with the tongue of love, shall find his heart restored.
wal ḥubbu mil’u janānī bal tajassama fī
shakhṣin ʿalā ṣūratī in dallatiṣ ṣuwaru
Love fills my very being, nay, it has taken form
Into a person of my likeness, if forms could truly reveal
yā sayyidar rusli adriknī famā baqiyat
lī ḥīltun ghayru ḥubbin minka muddakharu
O Master of the Messengers, assist me! For I have
No stratagem left, save the treasure of my love for you
lillāhi mīlādukal ghālīdh dhī saʿidat
bihil basīṭatu wan jābat bihil ghiyaru
To God belongs your precious birth! Through which the earth
Found bliss, and by which the clouds of gloom were swept away
yawmun bihi ḍā’atid dunyā famā ṭalaʿat
shamsun ʿalā mithlihi fīhā walā qamaru
A day through which the world shone bright; never has a sun
Nor a moon risen upon a day more glorious than it
taḥiyyatun laka min qalbin muʿaṭṭaratun
yazīdu ʿarfa shadhāhā rawḥukal ʿaṭiru
A greeting to you from a heart, perfumed and sweet,
Whose fragrance only beautifies by your own sweet scent
waqā’ilin liy mā tashtāqu qultu lahu
ashtāqu ṭaybata shawqan laysa yanḥaṣiru
And one said to me, “What do you long for?” I replied:
“I long for Ṭaybah with a longing that knows no bounds.”
yā qā’idal jawwi anzilnī idhā lamaʿat
liʿaynikal qubbatul khaḍrā’u wal ḥujaru
O captain of the air! Land me once there appears
To your eyes the Green Dome and the sacred chambers
hunāka aqṣidu shubbākar rasūli likaī
astaghfiru Allaha ḥaythudh dhanbu yughtafaru
There, I shall seek the window of the Messanger, so that
I may seek Allah's forgiveness where sins are washed away
ʿalayka ṣalātu Allahi mā tuliyat
fī ḥafli mīlādikal āīātu wālsuwaru
Upon you be the prayers of Allah, so long as
The verses and chapters are recited in honor of your birth
wālāli wālṣaḥbi wal atbāʿi qāṭibatan
wālghawthi wālqṭbi wālāḥbābi adh ḥaḍarū
And upon your Family, Companions, and followers entirely,
And upon the Ghawth, the Qutb, and the beloved ones whenever they gather
