قَصِيدَةُ الْحُجْرَةِ النَّبَوِيَّةِ الشَّرِيفَةِ

The Poem of the Noble Prophetic Chamber

السُّلْطَان عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ الْأَوَّلSultan Abdul Hamid I

Transliterate

Translation

يَا سَيِّدِي يَا رَسُـــولَ اللهِ خُذْ بِيَدِي

مَا لِي سِوَاكَ وَلَا أَلْـــوِي عَلَى أَحَدِ

yā sayyidī yā rasūla Allahi khudh biyadī

mā lī siwāka walā alwī ʿalā aḥadi

O my Master, O Messenger of Allah, take my hand

I have none but you, nor do I turn to anyone else.

فَـــأَنْتَ نُورُ الْهُدَى فِـــي كُلِّ كَائِنَـــةٍ

وَأَنْتَ سِرُّ النَّدَى يَا خَيْـــرَ مُعْتَمَـــدِ

fa anta nūrul hudā fī kulli kā’inatin

wa anta sirrun nadā yā khayra muʿtamadi

For you are the light of guidance in every created thing,

and you are the secret of all grace, O best of those relied upon

وَأَنْتَ حَقًّـــا غِيَاثُ الْخَلْقِ أَجْمَعِهِمْ

وَأَنْتَ هَادِي الْوَرَى للهِ ذِي السَّـــدَدِ

wa anta ḥaqqan ghiyāthul khalqi ajmaʿihim

wa anta hādīl warā lillāhi dhīs sadadi

And you are truly the savior of all creation

And you are the guide of mankind unto Allah with perfect rectitude.

يَا مَــنْ يَقُومُ مَقَـــامَ الْحَمْـــدِ مُنْفَرِدًا

لِلْوَاحِــــدِ الْفَرْدِ لَـمْ يُولَــدْ وَلَـمْ يَلِــدِ

yā man yaqūmu maqāmal ḥamdi munfaridan

lilwāḥidil fardi lam yūlad walam yalidi

O you who stands alone in the Station of Praise

For the One, the Singular, who begets not nor is begotten.

يَــــا مَــنْ تَفَجَّـــرَتِ الْأَنْهَـــارُ نَابِعَةً

مِنْ إِصْبَعَيْهِ فَرَوَّى الْجَيْــشَ بِالْمَــدَدِ

yā man tafajjaratil anhāru nābiʿatan

min iṣbaʿayhi farawwal jaysha bil madadi

O you from whose fingers rivers gushed forth

Quenching the army's thirst with abundant flow.

إِنِّي إِذَا سَــــامَنِي ضَيْـمٌ يُرَوِّعُنِـي

أَقُولُ يَا سَـيِّدَ السَّـادَاتِ يَا سَـنَــدِي

innī idhā sāmanī ḍaymun yurawwiʿunī

aqūlu yā sayyidas sādāti yā sanadī

Indeed, when fearful injustice oppresses me

I say: O Master of masters, O my support!

كُنْ لِي شَفِيعًا إِلَى الرَّحْمَنِ مِنْ زَلَلٍ

وَامْنُنْ عَلَـيَّ بِمَا لَا كَانَ فِي خَلَــدِي

kun lī shafīʿan ilar raḥmani min zalalin

wam nun ʿalayya bimā lā kāna fī khaladī

Be my intercessor unto the Merciful for my slips

And bless me with grace that never crossed my mind.

وَانْظُرْ بِعَيْنِ الرِّضَا لِي دَائِمًـا أَبَدًا

وَاسْتُرْ بِفَضْلِكَ تَقْصِيرِي إِلَى الْأَمَدِ

wan ẓur biʿaynir riḍā lī dā’iman abadan

was tur bifaḍlika taqṣīrī ilal amadi

And look upon me with the eye of favor forevermore

And veil my shortcomings with your grace unto eternity.

وَاعْطِفْ عَلَيَّ بِعَفْوٍ مِنْكَ يَشْمَلُنِـي

فَإِنَّنِي عَنْــــكَ يَا مَوْلَايَ لَـمْ أَحِـدِ

waʿ ṭif ʿalayya biʿafwin minka yashmalunī

fa innanī ʿanka yā mawlāya lam aḥidi

And turn to me with an encompassing pardon

For I have never strayed from you, O my Master.

إِنِّي تَوَسَّـلْتُ بِالْمُخْتَـارِ أَفْضَلِ مَـنْ

رَقَى السَّــــمَوَاتِ سِـرِّ الْوَاحِدِ الْأَحَدِ

innī tawassaltu bil mukhtāri afḍali man

raqas samawāti sirril wāḥidil aḥadi

I have sought mediation through the Chosen One, the best of those who

Ascended the heavens, the secret of the One, the Singular.

رَبُّ الْجَمَــالِ تَعَالَى اللهُ خَالِقُـــهُ

فَمِثْلُـــهُ فِــي جَمِــيعِ الْخَـلْقِ لَــمْ أَجِـدِ

rabbul jamāli taʿāla Allahu khāliquhu

famithluhu fī jamīʿil khalqi lam ajidi

The lord of beauty, exalted is Allah his Creator

For his likeness in all of creation I have not found.

خَيْرُ الْخَلَائِقِ أَعْلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ ذُرًى

ذُخْـرُ الْأَنَـامِ وَ هَادِيــهِمْ إِلَى الرَّشَــدِ

khayrul khalā’iqi aʿlal mursalīna dhuran

dhukhrul anāmi wa hādīhim ilar rashadi

The best of creations, the highest of messengers in eminence

The treasure of mankind and their guide to righteousness.

بِهِ الْتَجَـــأْتُ لَعَلَّ اللهَ يَغْفِــــرَ لِــي

هَـــذَا الَّذِي هُوَ فِـــي ظَنِّـي وَمُعْتَقَدِي

bihil taja’tu laʿalla Allaha yaghfira lī

hadhal ladhī huwa fī ẓannī wamuʿtaqadī

With him I have sought refuge, that Allah may forgive me

This is what rests in my conviction and belief.

فَمَدْحُهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ دَأْبِي مَدَى عُمُـرِي

بُّهُ عِنْــدَ رَبِّ الْعَرْشِ مَسْــــــتَنَدِي

famadḥuhu lam yazal da’bī madā ʿumurī

buhu ʿinda rabbil ʿarshi mastanadī

His praise remains my constant habit all my life

And love for him is my support before the Lord of the Throne.

عَلَيْهِ أَزْكَى صَلَاةٍ لَمْ تَـــزَلْ أَبَدًا

مَعَ السَّــــلَامِ بِلَا حَصْرٍ وَلَا عَـــــــدَدِ

ʿalayhi azkā ṣalātin lam tazal abadan

maʿas salāmi bilā ḥaṣrin walā ʿadadi

Upon him be the purest of blessings, unceasing forever

Along with peace, beyond all limit and count.

وَالْآلِ وَالصَّحْبِ أَهْلِ الْمَجْدِ قَاطِبَةً

وَتَـابِعِيـهِمْ بِإِحْسَــــــانٍ إِلَى الْأَبَــــدِ

wal āli waṣ ṣaḥbi ahlil majdi qāṭibatan

watābiʿīhim bi iḥsānin ilal abadi

And upon the Prophet's family and companions, the people of glory altogether

And those who follow them in excellence unto eternity.
