صلى الله عليكَ يا نور
Blessings Of Allah Be Upon You, O Light

صَلَّى اللَّهْ عَلَيْكَ يَا نُور
يَا نُورَ كُلِّ الْمَنَازِل
ṣalla Allah ʿalayka yā nūr
yā nūra kullil manāzil
Blessings of Allah be upon you, O Light,
O Light of every abode,
يَا خَيْرَ مَنْ فِي الْمَنَازِل
yā khayra man fīl manāzil
O best of those within all abodes
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنْتَ
أَنْتَ الْنُّورُ الْمُتَشَكِّلْ
yā rasūla Allahi anta
antal nnūrul mutashakkil
O Messenger of Allah, you are,
You are the Light made manifest,
نُورٌ عَلَى نُورٍ جِئْتَ
بِهِ الْقُرْآنُ تَنَزَّلْ
nūrun ʿalā nūrin ji’ta
bihil qurānu tanazzal
Light upon Light, you arrived,
And through You, the Quran was sent down
مَشْكَاةً نُورًا وَزَيْتًا
ضِيَاءً جِئْتَ مُعَتَدِلْ
mashkātan nūran wazaytan
ḍiyā’an ji’ta muʿatadil
A niche, a lamp, and the purest oil,
A balanced radiance, you have come
لَا يَكُونُ الْكَوْنُ حَتَّى
يَظْهَرَ بِكَ مُتَجَمَّلْ
lā yakūnul kawnu ḥattā
yaẓhara bika mutajammal
The universe could not have been,
Until, through you, it appeared in all its beauty
أَنْتَ فِي الْآثَارِ قُلْتَ
ذَا الْكَوْنُ مِنْكَ تَمَثَّلَ
anta fīl āthāri qulta
dhal kawnu minka tamaththala
You said in the transmitted traditions:
"This entire cosmos was fashioned from you."
مِنْ حَضْرَةِ الْقُدْسِ جِئْتَ
وَأَنْتَ فِيهَا لَمْ تَزَلْ
min ḥaḍratil qudsi ji’ta
wa anta fīhā lam tazal
From the Divine Gathering you came,
Yet in that Gathering, you ever remain
كُنْتَ قَبْلَ الْكَوْنِ كُنْتَ
وَالأَبَدُ مِثْلُ الأَزَلْ
kunta qablal kawni kunta
wal abadu mithlul azal
You were, before the universe was;
And eternity is like pre-eternity
مُطْلَقًا كُنْتَ فَصِرْنَا
بِالْقُيُودِ مُتَجَمَّلْ
muṭlaqan kunta faṣirnā
bil quyūdi mutajammal
Absolute you were, and so we became
Adorned through the beauty of physical form
لَيْسَ فِي الْوُجُودِ الْبَتَّةْ
إِلَّا الْنُّورُ قُلْتُ أَجَلْ
laysa fīl wujūdil battah
illal nnūru qultu ajal
There is nothing in existence, truly,
Save for the Light; I said, "Indeed!"
بَدَا مِنَ الْغَيْبِ بَغْتَةْ
مِنْ أَعْلَى الْعُلَا تَنَزَّلْ
badā minal ghaybi baghtah
min aʿlal ʿulā tanazzal
It emerged from the Unseen suddenly,
Descending from the highest of the high
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ حُزْنَا
فَضْلَ الْفَضْلِ وَالْفَضَائِلْ
yā rasūla Allahi ḥuznā
faḍlal faḍli wal faḍā’il
O Messenger of Allah, we have gained
The grace of all graces and every virtue
يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ دُمْتَ
وَدُمْتُ لَكَ مُمَتَّثِلْ
yā rasūla Allahi dumta
wadumtu laka mumattathil
O Messenger of Allah, may you remain,
And may I remain forever your faithful follower
فَالْعَلَاوِيُّ يَرْجُو حَتَّى
يَبْلُغَ بِرِضَاكَ الأَمَلْ
fal ʿalāwiyyu yarjū ḥattā
yablugha biriḍākal amal
Thus Al-Alawi hopes and strives,
Until, through your favor, he reaches his ultimate goal
