They made known to us our identity

That we are truly bondservants

So we drank from the potency

Of its wine, the purest vintage

For Imam al-Shadhili

his rank is exalted and lofty:

A Gnostic, an ocean, a saint

In whom passionate love has grown sweet

A noble descendant of Imam Hasan

A master who honors his covenants

And his name is sublime and high

To him, from us, be peace

I journeyed through those meanings

Alighting within his sanctuary

Seeking the wine of inner realities

Naught but it, can quench my thirst

So he gave me to drink from the bowls

And clothed me in his finery

A robe that annihilated my essence

And cast me into spiritual rapture

The Pole of all the folk of God

Through whom they attained nearness

He attained from his Lord a secret

That intellects cannot comprehend

And God bestowed on him glad tidings

Of acceptance for his seekers

So if you desire any matter

Then seek intercession through the Imam

And upon the Chosen One, Ahmad

The Seal of the noble Messengers

Possessor of glorified rank

He who was shaded by the clouds

Through whom at the Basin we find bliss

Quenched on the Day of Crowding

And his name among us is Muhammad

So send blessings, O Lord of all creation
