Imam Abdallah Ibn Alawi Al-Haddad
ilzam bāba rabbik wa truk kulla dūn
wa salhus salāmah min dāril futūn
Stick to the door of your lord, and abandon all else.
Ask Him for safety from the abode of trials
lā yaḍīqu ṣadruk fal ḥādith yahūn
Allahul muqaddir wal ʿālam shu’ūn
Let not your heart feel constriction, the temporal world is insignificant
Allah is the decreer of all fates, and the world is merely its manifestation
lā yakthuru hammuk
mā quddir yakūn
Let not your worries be a lot
whatever is decreed, will come to pass
fikrak wa khtiyārak daʿhumā wa rāk
wat tadbīra ayḍan wa shhad man barāk
Your thought and choices, cast them behind your back
your plans, as well; witness He who created you.
mawlākal muhaymin innahu yarāk
fawwiḍ luh umūraka wa ḥsin biẓ ẓunūn
Your Master, the Dominant - indeed, He sees you
Consign to Him all your affairs and beautify your opinions (of Him)
lā yakthuru hammuk
mā quddir yakūn
Let not your worries be a lot
whatever is decreed, will come to pass
law wa lim wa kaīfa qawlu dhīl ḥamaq
yaʿtariḍ ʿalā Allahil ladhī khalaq
If only, why, and how are the statements of the fools
objecting to Allah who created,
wa qaḍā wa qaddar kulla shaī’ biḥaqq
yā qalbī tanabbah wa trukil mujūn
apportioned, and decreed everything in truth
O heart of mine, wake up and abandon impudence
lā yakthuru hammuk
mā quddir yakūn
Let not your worries be a lot
whatever is decreed, will come to pass
qad ḍamin taʿālā bir rizqil qawām
fīl kitābil munzal nūran lilanām
He, the Most High, has taken responsibility for provisions and livelihood
in a book that was revealed as a light for creation
far riḍā farīḍah was sakhaṭ ḥarām
wal qunūʿ rāḥah waṭ ṭamaʿ junūn
So, acceptance is an obligation, and resentment is forbidden
Contentment is peace, and greed is insanity
lā yakthuru hammuk
mā quddir yakūn
Let not your worries be a lot
whatever is decreed, will come to pass
anta wal khalā’iq kulluhum ʿabīd
wal ilahu fīnā yafʿal mā yurīd
You and all of creation are servants,
and God does as He will with us
hammuka wa ghtimāmuk wa yḥak mā yufīd
alqaḍā taqaddam fa āghnamis sukūn
Your worry and stress - Woe to you - will avail nothing
The Divine decree has come, so remain calm
lā yakthuru hammuk
mā quddir yakūn
Let not your worries be a lot
whatever is decreed, will come to pass
alladhī lighayrik lan yaṣil ilayk
wal ladhī qusim lak ḥāṣilun ladayk
That which is decreed for others will never reach you
and that which was apportioned for you, you will receive
fa āshtaghil birabbik wal ladhī ʿalayk
fī farḍil ḥaqīqah wash sharʿil maṣūn
So, busy yourself with your Lord and that which you are responsible for
in the obligations of reality and the preserved Sacred law
lā yakthuru hammuk
mā quddir yakūn
Let not your worries be a lot
whatever is decreed, will come to pass
sharʿil muṣṭafāl hādīl bashīr
khatmil anbiyā’il badril munīr
the Sacred law of the Chosen one, the Guide, the Giver of glad tidiings
the Seal of the Prophets, the radiant full moon
ṣallā Allahu ʿalaīhir rabbul qadīr
mā rīḥuṣ ṣabā mālat bil ghuṣūn
May the blessings of Allah, the All-Powerful Lord
as long as the morning wind bends the branches
lā yakthuru hammuk
mā quddir yakūn
Let not your worries be a lot
whatever is decreed, will come to pass
