صَلَّى الله عَلَى مُحَمَد
صَلَّى الله عَلَى مُحَمَد
ṣallā Allah ʿalā muḥamad
ṣallā Allah ʿalā muḥamad
صَلَّى الله عَلَى مُحَمَد
و عَلَى آلِـه وَ سَلَّم
ṣallā Allah ʿalā muḥamad
w ʿalā ālih wa sallam
قَدْ بَدَا وَجْهُ الحَبِـيـبِ
لَاحَ فِي وَقْتِ السَّحَرَ
qad badā wa jhul ḥabiībi
lāḥa fī wa qtis saḥara
The face of the Beloved appeared
and shone in the early dawn
نُورُهُ قَدْ عَمَّ قَلْبِي
فَسَجَدْتُ بِالكِسَارَ
nūruhu qad ʿamma qalbī
fasajadtu bil kisāra
His light pervaded my heart
so I prostrated myself in awe
قَالَ لِي ارْفَعْ وَاسْأَلَنِّي
فَلَكُمْ كُلُّ وَطَرَ
qāla lī ārfaʿ wa salannī
falakum kullu wa ṭara
He said to me: 'Rise! - and ask of Me!
You will have whatever you desire.
قُلْتُ أَنْتَ أَنْتَ حَسْبِي
لَيْسَ لِي عَنْكَ اصْطِبَارَ
qultu antaanta ḥasbī
laysa lī ʿanka āṣṭibāra
I replied: You. You are enough for me!
Away from You I cannot live!
قالَ عَبْدِي لَكَ بُشْرَى
فَتَنَعَمْ بِالنَّظَرَ
qāla ʿabdī laka bushrā
fatanaʿam bin naẓara
He said: My slave, there is good news for you
so enjoy the vision.
أَنْتَ كَـنْـرٌ لِـعِـبَـادِي
أَنْتَ ذِكْرَى لِلْبَشَرَ
anta kanrun liʿibaādī
anta dhikrā lilbashara
You are a treasure to My slaves
and you are a remembrance to mankind.
كُلُّ حُسْنٍ وَجَمَالٍ
فِي الوَرَى مِنِّي انْتَشَرَ
kullu ḥusnin wa jamālin
fīl warā minnī āntashara
Every good and every beauty
in man has spread from me
بَطَنَتْ أَوْصَافُ ذَاتِي
وَتَجَلَّتْ فِي الْأَثَـرَ
baṭanat awṣāfu dhātī
wa tajallat fīl athara
The attributes of My essence were hidden
and they were manifested in the existence-traces.
إِنَّمَا الكَونُ مَعَانٍ
قَائِمَاتٌ بالصُّوَرَ
innamāl kawnu maʿānin
qā'imātun bālṣṣūara
Truly created beings are meanings
set up in images
كُلُّ مَنْ يُدْرِكُ هَذَا
كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ العِبَرَ
kullu man yudriku hadhā
kāna min ahlil ʿibara
All who grasp this are
are among the people of discrimination
لَمْ يَذُقْ لَذَّةَ عَيْشٍ
الَّذِي عَنَّا انْحَصَرَ
lam yadhuq ladhdhata ʿayshin
alladhī ʿannā ānḥaṣara
They will not taste the sweetness of life
those whom are cut off from us
رَبَّنَا صَلِّ عَلَى مَنْ
نُورُهُ عَمَّ البَشَرَ
rabbanā ṣalli ʿalā man
nūruhu ʿammal bashara
Our Lord, bless the one
whose light has spread through all mankind.
