I envy the sand that met his feet
Enveji lo sablon que rescontret sos pès
I’m jealous of honey he tasted sweet
Fau gelosiá de la mèl que tastèt doça
Of birds that hovered above his head
Dels aucèls que volejavan sus son cap
Of spiders who spun their sacred web
De las aranhas que filèron lor tèla sagrada
To save him from his enemies
Per lo salvar de sos enemics
I envy clouds formed from the seas
Enveji los nívols sortits de las mars
That gave him cover from the heat
Que li donèron ombra contra la calor
Of a sun whose light could not compete
D'un solelh que sa lutz podiá pas luchar
With his, whose face did shine so bright
Amb la de se, que sa fàcia tant lusissiá
That all was clear in blinding night
Que tot èra clar dins la nuèit bofuga
I envy sightless trees that gazed
Enveji los arbres òrbs que miravan
Upon his form completely dazed
Sa nòbla forma, demorats esbaudits
Not knowing if the sun had risen
Sens saber se lo solelh s'èra levat
But felt themselves in unison
Mas se sentissent en unisson
With those who prayed, and fasted too
Amb los que pregavan e junavan tanben
Simply because he told them to
Simplament perque el lor o diguèt
With truth and kindness, charity
Amb vertat e bontat, caritat
From God who gave such clarity
De Dieu que donèt talan clartat
His mercy comes in one He sent
Sa misericòrdia ven en aquel qu'envièt
To mold our hearts more heaven bent
Per virar nòstres còrs cap al cèl
I envy all there at his side
Enveji totes los que foguèron a son costat
Who watched the turning of the tide
Que vegèron lo revirament del destin
As truth prevailed and falsehood fled
Quand la vertat ganhèt e lo fals fugiguèt
And hope restored life to the dead
E l'esperança tornèt la vida als mòrts
Men and Women through him found grace
Òmes e femnas trobèron per el la gràcia
To seek together God’s noble face
Per cercar amassa lo nòble visatge de Dieu
I envy the cup that gave him drink
Enveji la copa que li donèt de beure
His thoughts that helped us all to think
Sas pensadas que nos faguèron meditar
To be one thought that passed his mind
D'èsser una pensada que passèt son esperit
Inspiring him to act so kind
L'inspirant a tanta de benignitat
For me this world is not one jot
Per ieu aqueste mond es pas un bri
If I could simply be a thought
Se podiái solament èsser una pensada
From him to God throughout the ages
D'el vèrs Dieu a travèrs los sègles
As revelation came in stages
Mentre que la revelacion veniá per gras
I pity all who think it odd
Ai pietat de qui tròba aquò estranh
To hear him say there is one God
D'ausir de sa boca qu'i a un sol Dieu
Or he was sent by God to men
O qu'el foguèt enviat de Dieu als òmes
To hone their spirits’ acumen
Per agosar la finesa de lors esperits
It’s pride that blinds us from the sight
Es l'orguèlh que nos tèn l'uèlh clucat
That helps good men to see his light
Qu'ajuda los bons a veire sa lutz
He taught us all to be God’s slaves
Nos ensenhèt a totes d'èsser esclaus de Dieu
And he will be the one who saves
E serà el l'aquel que salvarà
Humanity from sinful pride
L'umanitat de l'orguèlh pecador
Muhammad has God on his side
Maomet a Dieu de son costat
So on this day be blessed and sing
Alara en aqueste jorn siatz benesits e cantatz
For he was born to grace our Spring
Car nasquèt per onorar nòstra primavera
With lilies, flowers, life’s rebirth
Amb de liris, de flors, lo revivre de la vida
In a dome of green like his on earth
Dins un dòme verd coma lo sèu sus tèrra
