Anthem for the Prophet ﷺ

Hīmene mō te Poropiti ﷺ

Transliterate

Translation

Ṣalli rabbī ʿala n-nabiyyi, shafīʿinā Aḥmad

E tōku Ariki, manaakitia te Poropiti, tō mātou takawaenga a Amata

E tōku Ariki, manaakitia te Poropiti, tō mātou Ariki a Muhāmata

The people that in darkness dwelt,

Ko te hunga i noho i roto i te pōuri,

A glorious light have seen

Kua kite i tētahi mārama kororia

God's prophet now to them hath come,

Kua tae mai te poropiti a te Atua ki a rātou,

Muhammad, Al-Amin

Ko Muhāmata, ko Al-Amin

We hail thee, Allah's Prophet true,

Ka oha atu mātou ki a koe, te Poropiti pono a Allah,

Of prophecy the seal

Te hiri o te poropititanga

We read with reverence the Book,

E pānui ana mātou i te Pukapuka i runga i te wehi tapu,

Thou wast sent to reveal

I tonoa mai koe ki te whakaatu

For thou the burden did'st remove,

He mea hāpai hoki e koe te pikaunga,

Idolatry's fell rod

Te rākau nanakia o te karakia whakapakoko

And in thy day the idols fell,

I tōu wā i hinga ai ngā whakapakoko,

Before the Sword of God

I mua i te Hoari a te Atua

To bless Arabia and the world,

Hei manaaki i Arāpia me te ao katoa,

Most surely thou wast raised

He pono rawa i whakaarahia koe

We'll sing thy praises evermore,

Ka waiatatia e mātou ōu whakamoemiti mō ake tonu atu,

Our Mustafa, the praised

Ko tō mātou Mututapā, te mea e whakamoemititia ana

We watch with gentle, fostering care,

E mātaki ana mātou i runga i te aroha ngāwari,

The seed that thou hast sown

Te kākano i rui ai koe

And trust to hear the world declare,

E tumanako ana kia rongo i te ao e kī ana,

God's prophet as its own

Ko te poropiti a te Atua tōna ake
