I envy the sand that met his feet
Envejo l'arena que els seus peus tocà
I’m jealous of honey he tasted sweet
Envejo la mel que ell tastà tan dolça
Of birds that hovered above his head
Dels ocells que sobre el seu cap voleiaren
Of spiders who spun their sacred web
De les aranyes que el seu tel sagrat teixiren
To save him from his enemies
Per salvar-lo dels seus enemics
I envy clouds formed from the seas
Envejo els núvols que es formaren dels mars
That gave him cover from the heat
Que li donaren recer contra la calor
Of a sun whose light could not compete
D'un sol la llum del qual no podia competir
With his, whose face did shine so bright
Amb la d'ell, el rostre del qual brillava tant
That all was clear in blinding night
Que tot era clar en la nit encegadora
I envy sightless trees that gazed
Envejo els arbres cecs que contemplaven
Upon his form completely dazed
La seva forma, del tot extasiats
Not knowing if the sun had risen
Sense saber si el sol s'havia alçat
But felt themselves in unison
Mes se sentien en uníson
With those who prayed, and fasted too
Amb aquells que pregaven i dejunaven
Simply because he told them to
Tan sols perquè ell els ho digué
With truth and kindness, charity
Amb veritat, bondat i caritat
From God who gave such clarity
De Déu, qui donà tal claredat
His mercy comes in one He sent
La Seva mercè arriba en aquell que envià
To mold our hearts more heaven bent
Per inclinar els nostres cors vers el cel
I envy all there at his side
Envejo tots els qui eren al seu costat
Who watched the turning of the tide
Que del destí el canvi observaren
As truth prevailed and falsehood fled
Quan la veritat vencé i fugí l'engany
And hope restored life to the dead
I l'esperança tornà la vida als morts
Men and Women through him found grace
Homes i dones per ell la gràcia trobaren
To seek together God’s noble face
Per cercar plegats el noble rostre de Déu
I envy the cup that gave him drink
Envejo la copa que li donà beure
His thoughts that helped us all to think
Els seus pensaments que ens feren reflexionar
To be one thought that passed his mind
Ser un pensament que per la seva ment passés
Inspiring him to act so kind
Inspirant-lo a obrar amb tanta bondat
For me this world is not one jot
Per a mi aquest món no val un bri
If I could simply be a thought
Si pogués ser tan sols un pensament
From him to God throughout the ages
D'ell vers Déu al llarg dels segles
As revelation came in stages
Mentre la revelació per etapes venia
I pity all who think it odd
Em fan pena els qui troben estrany
To hear him say there is one God
Sentir-lo dir que només hi ha un Déu
Or he was sent by God to men
O que fou enviat per Déu als homes
To hone their spirits’ acumen
Per polir l'agudesa de llurs esperits
It’s pride that blinds us from the sight
És l'orgull el que ens priva de la vista
That helps good men to see his light
Que ajuda els bons a veure la seva llum
He taught us all to be God’s slaves
Ens ensenyà a tots a ser serfs de Déu
And he will be the one who saves
I ell serà aquell qui salvarà
Humanity from sinful pride
La humanitat de l'orgull pecaminós
Muhammad has God on his side
Muhammad té Déu al seu costat
So on this day be blessed and sing
Que en aquest dia sigueu beneïts i canteu
For he was born to grace our Spring
Car ell nasqué per exalçar la primavera
With lilies, flowers, life’s rebirth
Amb lliris, flors i vida renascuda
In a dome of green like his on earth
En una cúpula verda com la seva a la terra
